sega cd .iso isues

i have recently ,*koff* *koff*, acquired some sega CD games. they are .iso/mp3 format. when i load the .iso directly ( i use kega fusion ) there is no sound (sound effects yes, bmg no.) also there was no opening movie in 'snatcher' and the game went into a perpetual loop after i got into the car for the first time. i use padus disk juggler to burn the ,iso but same problem. when i used it to copy my working designs collection it works fine. i know the problem is that i am burning the .iso but not the mp3 parts but i dint know how to add them in.

p.s. i am rather hack illiterate and have almost no experience with disk burning. any and all help is welcome.

usually the trouble lies in needing a cue file to tell your burning program how to burn the mp3s into audio tracks using set time parameters.

once you have a proper cue file, if you burn it to a CD using the right settings, the disc will work with audio.

also you can attempt mounting a cue file with something like daemon tools which may or may not work for playing the audio (i.e. you might have to convert the mp3s to WAV first)

good luck! go search for cues, or just read up on them in general.

Re: sega cd .iso isues

If you're running ISO/MP3 dumps via an emulator, you have to make sure the MP3 tracks follow a certain naming convention. For example:

Dark Wizard.iso
Dark Wizard 02.mp3
Dark Wizard 03.mp3
Et cetera...

Burning is slightly more complicated, but easily done (And will even play in a real Sega CD with no need for mod chips and such). If it came with a CUE sheet, you'll first have to convert the MP3s to WAV format using something like Winamp's Disk Writer plugin or a standalone utility such as WinLAME, then load/burn the CUE with something like Nero.

If it *didn't* come with a CUE sheet, things aren't hopeless. The Sega CD simply uses track numbers to seek data, unlike the Turbo CD that uses sector addressing.

I'll use Dark Wizard as an example again:

After converting the MP3 files to WAV, you would open Notepad and enter the following:

FILE Dark Wizard.iso BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
PREGAP 00:00:00
INDEX 01 00:00:00

FILE Dark Wizard 02.wav WAVE
TRACK 02 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:00:00
INDEX 01 00:00:00

FILE Dark Wizard 03.wav WAVE
TRACK 03 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:00:00
INDEX 01 00:00:00

FILE Dark Wizard 04.wav WAVE
TRACK 04 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:00:00
INDEX 01 00:00:00

And so on, until all the tracks are set up. Save this as Dark Wizard.cue (The name doesn't really matter) in the same directory as all the tracks. Be sure to save it as *ALL FILES*, otherwise it'll append a .txt to the end. If it has a text file icon but is called Dark Wizard.cue, you probably have file extensions hidden in Explorer, and you need to disable this incredibly stupid "feature" to see the extension and remove the .txt (Or you can do this via CMD, but I think that may be a little more complicated to explain to you).

Then simply open the CUE sheet in a burning program and off you go.

...or just wait for someone to do it for you. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

Or just use this Sega CD Cue Maker.
