Get VMware fusion and run any flavor of Windows?

I'm serious. You are truly limiting yourself with the OS you're running in regards to hobbyist rom hacking tools.

You're having that trouble for the same reasons you have trouble getting a virus on a mac. The universe is so Windows tilted nobody's bothered.

Could also give VirtualBox a go. I use it here and it's great.

Damn it. well I guess I'll just figure this out. I know If all else fails Ill just use a hex editor :headshake:

Well Mac OS X 10.2 really does limit your options. You'll be using a PowerPC processor (Intel Macs are all 10.4 or later), so Darwine isn't an option. If you want to do serious hacking, you'll really need an Intel CPU.

oh shi, I didn't realize that. That throws most VM clients out of the water.

I don't know what to tell you. hmm, uhm... maybe ask around at romhacking.net?

For graphics hacking, Tile Molester should work just fine. It's written in Java, so should run on just about any platform.

As Reaper Man has already said, RHDN is probably your best bet. There doesn't seem to be much there, (10 utilities, 5 of which are for specific games) though there is a hex editor named MacThing that might be of some use. Just go to RHDN, click on Utilities and then select Mac OS X from the OS drop down. (If I'm not mistaken, OS X is backwards compatible, as well. If so, make sure to look through the six utilities that exist for the classic Mac OS, as well.)

Cool. I downloaded The NES CHR editor so I've got the graphics editing covered. all I need now is a good hex editor.

You could always get a Mac version of dosbox and use all of the dos tools?
Hexpose as a hex editor?

Synalyze It!

Some weeks ago I published Synalyze It!
This is much more than a hex editor and helps analyzing any binary files.

In case you didn't notice, this thread is 2 years old. Then again, I don't expect much from a macfag.
