I would say the he is at most a semi-literate artist who wants to make whatever dreams he has a reality and doesn't know a damn thing on how software/hardware works, and probably never real. What he fails to realize with his original post, however, is that it doesn't fucking work that way.

I mean some random rom hacker is going to take up on his offer when he isn't established, and even worse, he has no work to show for him so that he doesn't look like some talentless hack? Fat fucking chance.

You can't relay on anyone these days, you have to everything yourself.

If you want to be able to rely on other people, you have to first demonstrate that you're reliable.

Look, you can rely on people to point you in the right direction or to help you out with a particular problem, but you can't expect someone to just do everything for you. It's not easy to find level data and then edit a whole game. It takes time, and any hacker will want to work on his / her own project, and not on some one esle's.

If you want information on how to do this yourself, try looking for documentation or asking questions here or on romhacking.net.

When it comes to ROM Hacking, this is nearly 100% correct. People on the boards can help you by answering questions and such, but they won't physically do your work for you. In ROM Hacking (unlike in the games industry), everyone has to be their own Designer AND Programmer.

Don't let this discourage you though, if you really want to make your dream into reality, then do some research, ask some questions, and learn from your mistakes. Ask here when you get stuck, and we'll do what we can to get you un-stuck.

You hit the nail on the head. It's the best way to start, too.
