Zsnes zmv archive

This would be very handy for the Zsnes zmv archive:

How about having the authors include the version of Zsnes that the movie was recorded with?

I say this because from what I've read and such, all Zsnes versions have different internal timing or something to that effect, and what might play flawlessly on one version might desync shortly in on another.

So yeah, it'd be real handy to have that info available (of course this'd be a 'fromnow on' type of request, not a 'since the beginning' request).

A big to that suggestion.

Yes...this is a very good idea. I wanted to watch a zmv of someone beating FF6 with characters at a seriously low level. I couldn't find a zsnes that could play it right.

This has been a problem for some time. Unforunately, there is NO WAY to tell the version of ZSNES used with just the movie handy, so alllll the submissions before the last tiny bit are hit and miss. I don't understand it myself...it really sucks and defeats the purpose of a movie function of an emulator if the timing becomes different. It sucks.

Yeah, that's why I said 'from now on', since it wouldn't be possible to find out for the older ones by the movie alone.

For future movies it'd be good info to have available though.

Then can the ones you don't know about.

Most submissions nowadays are sent with the ZSNES version number since I requested that awhile back. I'm not sure the percentage of those who actually do it, but it's pretty high.

See, I had no clue that 'can' was being used as a verb. Hah. Anyway, I might have to break up the zmv section into dates and such...maybe the older ones can be archived on another page.

Here's another idea on top of that. From personal experience, just a few bytes difference in the rom will also throw the movie out of whack. So for starters, add in the detail of the checksum. You know, like if it's ok or it failed. That should be common knowledge but with some people, you never know. I found out first hand that one of my roms was bad and never knew it until tonight. That screwed up a perfectly good MMX1 run. So uh, yeah, rant over.
