What is wrong with people and the Wii?

All I hear is whining about the price being WITHIN what Nintendo said it was....the controller is too expensive.....you have to pay for the browser.

Good lord, quit whining, DON'T BUY IT IF YOU DON'T WANT IT!

Since 1991, and I certainly had never seen so much freaking whining on it. People blowing things out of proportion. I guess I'm jaded

Exactly. The price is well within the range that Nintendo said (making it far cheaper than all its competitors), the controller is one of the more sophisticated pieces of digital hardware to come out in awhile, and I'm sure the PS3 controller which uses similar technology will cost the same or more. Also, Opera has always been a commercial browser. The fact that you have to pay for it is no different than any of the other platforms it's available for (aside from the PC, but only recently). Bottom line, if you still have some reason to complain about it ("lol i dont liek movign my arms") just shut up and sit in the corner while the rest of us play Excitetruck without you.

Thing is, the nunchuck is just an addon that will seemeinlgy be mostly used at single player. Any additional controller would just require the basic wiimote.

Thing is, a wireless Xbox 360 controller is $50 anyway. Wiimote + Nunchuck at $60 isn't that bad.

Yes, it is higher than I expected but whatever.

And we don't know how much a PS3 controller is going to be. Knowing Sony, they'll probably be $150 and there will only be 10,000 available at launch.

They are s'bosed to be $70, which is also retarded, but you get the entire controller.

Not half of it.

An addon != that other required half

I love this sales technique. We have the lower price, but only for the base unit. If you actually want to play something normal you'll have to spend enough to buy our competitors system.

This buying addon required parts for normal use is like car companies selling cars but telling you if you want the optional steering wheel and windshield it'll cost you an extra $3000 and we're the only ones that sell the ones that will work right.

Uh, you do know that != means "does not equal," right?

Oh.. so it's an addon. I see. So then Metroid Prime 3 and any other shooter games will not require the required addon? You'll be able to move your character, and aim with the single wiimote because the dongle that lets you move your character is not required.

Ok. Problem solved.

A 'complete' Wii controller is going to cost $60....$10 more than a wireless Xbox 360 controller and apparently $10 less than a PS3 controller.

A 'complete' PS3 is going to cost $600, $200 more than a 'complete' Xbox 360 and $350 more than a Wii.

Stop answering his posts then. You're only putting oil in the fire.

Actually no I didn't know that, thanks.

I still think it's like the handhelds that you had to buy a light to see the screen since it was so dark. Or having to buy a bigger memory module so you can play any decent game. The bigger modules should have been the only ones manufactured and included with the original console purchase. It's just preditory marketing in my view. Tell them this is a great system but then you go to play that expensive game you just bought and find out that the system is only great once you shell out another 100 or so in optional stuff that half the games require to play them at all.

It many of the games require something like extra memory or a full controller then that should be part of the system, or at least add the price on when systems are compared because that is the real price if your buying a system not the stripped down price or at least a mention of it would be nice.

That is a decent point.

It's probably a fair assumption that most games for the Wii won't be more than $50. Most non-first party games for the 360 are $60 and you know that PS3 games are going to be expensive. I'm not saying that the game prices make up for the more expensive controller....but it helps.

I am annoyed at the VC prices. They are just too expensive for games that are 10+ years old....and you aren't even getting the carts or a manual! But whatever, I just won't buy games from there.

I sure hope that non-Nintendo VC stuff isn't as expensive because I wants me some Toejam and Earl, dammit.

I agree. People listened to journalists yapping and yapping about prices, totally ignoring what Nintendo said. Nintendo said under 250, and nothing more. Guess what? It's under 250.

As far as I'm concerned, Wii is an excellent price. For the past twenty years, regardless of inflation, Nintendo systems remained the same price. Going up a measly 50 bucks shouldn't phase ANYONE.

Hm, you know...it is likely only a matter of time after it's launched that someone has poked and prodded the thing enough to figure out how to make some kind of homebrew add-ons. How it'd work I have no idea...I mean, if they can make that 'shell' controller, couldn't someone in theory make an SNES controller adapter or something?

Actually, apparently they are offering it free to Wii users from launch until June (if I remember right). Just so ya know.
