Well, it happened

I've already told a couple of people on #zophar about a rumor I heard that I was going to be reassigned to a new department due to a reorganization. My boss didn't even know until he heard the rumor. Anyway, the new Org. chart came out, and I'm out of Operations Engineering, and into the new "Systems" group. What the fuck we're supposed to do is anyone's guess. My new boss is out until next Tuesday, so I guess I'll find out then. I'm going to assume I'll still be providing production support for Firmware, solving misc. hardware/software problems, and doing server administration, but instead of monitoring specific contracts and preparing proposals for new ones, I'll be programming more. That'd actually be cool. I just hope my new boss isn't a dick. The old one was pretty cool <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>
Oh well, guess I'll find out next week.

Update

My new boss and I had a chance to talk today. My official status change going to be on Monday. He actually knows what he's doing, and doesn't seem to be an asshole. <img src=smilies/biggthumpup.gif> We talked about what the new department was going to do, and he told me to get some ideas together about what I would want to do, and that he wanted to make what we do as fun as possible. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>
