Seriously, moderation here is a fucking joke.

Really, look at this shit:

I'm done reporting these as it seems no one gives a flying shit about cleaning up the forum, nor putting any decent mitigations in place to prevent obvious spam bots. I'm probably one step away from leaving this community entirely, as it is in fact essentially dead, unfortunately. It's a shame really as this was where I got my start in emulation.

If you are under the expectation of a less-than-24-hour response on the reporting of posts, on a weekend, when most of us have lives away from our computers, then you really need to chill the hell out. I only get onto this page once a day, usually after 8:00pm EDT (sometimes slightly earlier on the weekends). If you think you can do a better job, then maybe you shouldn't have left the staff.

Cool, awesome work not even bothering to remove asuscat's post, which is obviously a bot account and has been lingering on the forum for lessee, a week and a half now?

I don't think anything has been done about the obviously AI generated responses whose sole purpose is to re-edit the post after it's long been forgotten to some spammy SEO bullshit, not to mention the admin's utter lack of bot registration prevention, it seems.

And no, I didn't exactly "leave," for your information. I just stopped coming due to frustration how dead this community was, and my roles were involuntarily removed due to inactivity, which I don't blame Edman for doing. I least I fucking tried to prevent bots from registering. The only caveat ofr doing that was that the IP blacklist was causing performance issues with the site, but that was the best I could do with the resources that I had at the time.

Honestly as it stands, the forums are a lost cause and are only really being used as a cesspool for bots to run rampant and posts their bullshit all over the place. I would say that a least 90% of the new posts in the past month have been made by bots. At this point, unless there was a complete revamp of the registration system, it would probably be best to close the forum out sans the news/submission sections.

I can, honestly, understand all of your frustrations with this situation. I've never been active (much less posted) on the forums here. I'm actually one of the pioneers of the Sonic the Hedgehog hacking community as well as the creator of the Sonic Hacking Contest, and I only stopped by here initially so that I could grab a copy of Kega, Gens, and anything else that looked like it was worth grabbing for playing contest entries on my new PC.

Zophar.net is the first place I go for anything and everything related to emulation. It was absolutely vital for me as a little girl.

While these forums are a part of the legacy and history of Zophar's Domain, it would be better that the news & submissions to the site continue as they always do without having access to a relatively unused forum that's inundated with bot registrations and spam posts.

Having a forum in such a state would be akin to having a physically well-maintained, historical cathedral that's been well-cared for in every possible way....

...except it's entirely covered from top to bottom in garbage & sewage.

Just my thoughts should the problem be as severe as it's sounding.
