Save files involving Action Replay

Here is my question. Is it possible to play a gba rom using the game save that was obtained from the cartridge by using the action replay and restore the game save that has been modified on the emulator to the cartridge using the action replay?

Or to be put more simply...

Can you use save files retrieved from Action Replay?
Can you restore save files to cartridge using Action Replay?

I'm not sure how the GBA Action Replay works, but I assume that if it is just backing up the SRAM (the battery powered save) from the cartridge, then there should be a way to use it in an emulator or something.
