There's a bootleg hack of a classic Lunar Pool NES game which became quite infamous for its really bad soundtrack. I came across it thanks to this video
Honestly, I really liked its drunk title theme in a "so bad it's good" way. It even inspired me to finally try myself at NES hardware-authentic pixel art that I managed to recreate as nes rom files in NES Maker and run on a NES emulator. Kinda like short animations I made as visual associations for different bad NES music where the first one was for Billiard 2008 which started everything. To put music in these animations I used this site's extensive nsf archive and found pretty much everything I needed except, sadly, Billiard 2008. I searched high and low for an easy way to extract nsf file from a NES rom but sadly it seems there's no easy short cuts, it's possible only for people who know how to work with assembly code while I'm just a dumbo artist who has zero knowledge about programming and coding. I saw it's common to put requests on this forum so I decided to leave mine here.
Before making a request I decided to check if it's actually easy to find the game's rom in web just like any NES game but it turned more obscure than I thought. Regular search like "Billiard 2008 nes rom download" showed nothing which is the first time in my life when NES game is not that easy to find. After a bit of extra searching and checking some YouTube videos I saw the reason. It seems that Billiard 2008 was never released as a separate game, it was always a part of some Chinese bootleg compilations which are also not that easy to find but thankfully one person on YouTube left a link to a site with a very extensive library of pirate games like that.
Link: It seems that Billiard 2008 was seen in many different compilations but I found only two, 100-in-1 Arcade Action II where it's a game 25 and Famicom Yarou where it's a game 33
100-in-1 Arcade Action II (AT-103)(Unl)[!]
Famicom Yarou 54 (Unl)[!]
I had some problems with emulating them, the first one doesn't want to run on Mesen showing an unsupported 255 mapper error but it runs normally on FCEUX, Famicom Yarou plays well on both Mesen and FCEUX. However, both have a bit odd sound. Comparing it to YouTube videos, including those which show that it's played exactly in those two compilations, the last 4 low pitched sounds in the end of the title theme fade out slowly getting lower and lower but when I emulate the game these 4 sounds have the same pitch and sound monotonous. That's odd, I wonder if something is wrong with my emulator settings even though I never touched the sound section there.
Anyway, I found a rom for you and if it's possible to rip NSF file from it I'll be VERY greatfull, I hope extracting nsf from 100-in-1 compilations like this is not harder than from regular NES games. I really want to fill this gap in my NES Music Associations series and honor Billiard 2008 which started it for me, I know it's not a big deal, it's not a big project, just a series of animations which can be as well just images with mp3 music turned into videos and this is actually what I did at first to compensate the lack of knowledge but now when I know how to use nsf files at least when I have them I really want to make it to the end, it's just my stupid perfectionism speaking. Thank you again in advance.
