Since Swampgas just unbanned me due to some reasons that will be revealed shortly, I would like to let him know of some problems that I had with the board while being banned, particularly from the time when he'd just banned me. So here we go.
Problem #1: A banned user cannot read his PMs.
While this isn't a real problem since banned users aren't even supposed to be able to read PMs anyway, it does become a problem when the banned user had a PM that was sent before the banning. After I was banned, I had an unread PM for months - I couldn't open it since it was sent by a regular user, not a mod, and the notification remained at the top of the screen no matter what I did. My suggestion is that PMs sent before the ban are readable, and that after the user is banned, PMs to that particular user are to be blocked.
Problem #2: A banned user can write an entire reply to a post and press "Submit" before the system tells him there's an error because he's banned. My suggestion here is that the system should tell the user that he's banned after he hits that reply button. I'd attempted to reply to some posts in the past, thinking that I was unbanned, and well, I was not.
And a suggestion: Why not do partial bannings? For instance, if a user raises hell while in the Backroom, just ban him from posting there, but let him post in other places, like Diaries. If the user keeps being annoying, then bam, global ban.
Well, my two cents.
