I'll "Grapes of Wrath" you!!!

So listen here... I write a fairly decent report on the Grapes of Wrath... only problem is that I required a great deal of secondary support from published authors, and most of my report was disagreeing with the book and explaining my thoughts on a weak and desperate attempt for an attention grabbing ending. (If you don't know, the story doesn't really end... A pregnant girl in the story breast feeds a starving elderly man and it's over.) Hope I didn't ruin the Grapes of Wrath for you ;).

So... where do I get secondary support? Nowhere. All the authors that took the time to write about Steinbeck thought he was some sort of God. So where do I go to get secondary support? Ok this is where the little problem comes in.... I got it from a John Steinbeck message board where people actually had some negitives. I get the paper back with a "D" on it... and a little note saying, "This is the grade you WILL get when you redo this paper with real secondary support." And so, I asked her; "Where do I get this secondary support? It seems to me that every professional review, article, and essay doesn't even come close to where I'm coming from in this paper." Of course she replies with a bitchy, "It's not my problem. You have a week to turn this in completed." Now get this... even though I have to REDO this ENTIRE paper... I still get the same "D" for my original! And of course... I put it off until today... and that "next week" she's talking about is... tomorrow.

Looks like I'm in a bitchy hurry to get this finished. But first... I'm thinking some Punchout would do me good right now :D. Long night ahead of me... time that SHOULD be spent studying for my Japansese test tomorrow is wasted on this biches honors class.

Sure, she may be preparing us for college in shit. But I can say what I mean in my own words without the babble of some published asshole saying exactly the same thing as me.

So I may get in trouble for this, (what else is new), but I'm going to make some webpages and create some BS secondary support. Cheating? No way. Call it as you will, I already got an irreversible "D" on this paper. Therfor, unless I'm getting a new grade for a new paper... I'll do whatever the hell I want. ;). peace, Danoz

English teachers, are, traditionally, PRICKS. That's their job. If you live in the USA, you need to know english and (yelling at the rest of the readers of my post here) MATH. If you get a job at the McDonalds and let the machine tell you what change to give...get a freakin grip. Look, Danoz, she's looking for some inner reaching ironies and plot dealies. Screw her. I'd take the D and tell her you stick by your original report. When I was a sophmore in HS, yes, I know, a long time by your standards, I read a book for a book report that I was guaranteed extra credit for. The book was supposedly a college "junior" level reading deal. It was called "This Stranger, My Son". It was execellent. It was about a mother's problem with a schizophrenic son. Ya know what that bastard gave me? A fucking D. And I showed it to my Soph english teacher, who told me I hit the nail on the head. Guess what? Some of 'em think they're better than others.....god, I miss Miss Scarpa....hottest English teacher I ever had.

Hell would I like to stick it in here face. Here is the catch, I get a "0%" if I don't turn a new report. Her policy is that she gives no grade for "incomplete" work, and when you do the new work your still fucked with whatever she thought you deserved the first time around.

Turn the same damned report in and plead your case to a dean. You're a smart dude, Danoz. Do it, be it. :)

That'd probably get you at LEAST a C+. I say go for it. Nothing else you do will make a damn bit of difference, because as Flash stated - English teachers are PRICKS. Even the hot ones ;)

Actually yes, that is cheating, whether you think the "system" is trying to screw you over or not :p You could have easily used secondary support as just a mine for quotes that you could disprove in the essay (as in pull one of the "Steinbeck is a god" quotes as a reference, and then point out your disagreements with that reference). In a university you'd get expelled for creating your own references and quoting them as if they were real..in a lower school you might not, but it's still a pretty lame way of dealing with an assignment :>

First off you arn't aware of the assignment. We are to find secondary material to "back up" our statements. Your not allowed to find quotes just to disagree with them in this paper.

Also, when at a University level I will not only there by choice... but I will be paying my own earned money to be there.

You can call creating your own sources to back up yourself "lame", but in reality if she bought my own writing as a realistic "professional" secondary source, I would say I did a damn good job ;)- peace.

Well in that case you must have been aware of the assignment yourself, so why not just have it done the way you're asked to? I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I know from experience that a lot of people who complain about their teachers do so because they can't understand why not following instructions gets them in trouble ;>

That makes no difference, though. What if in university you were given the same assignment, would it suddenly be more wrong to fake sources than it would be in, say, high school? Not really. It'd be about the same, you'd just suffer more consequences as a result :>

Well, lame is probably a bad word to use, I'll take that one back. Dishonest, though, definitely :> Sorry if I appear to be picking on you or anything, I guess since English is one of the courses I work the hardest in, I find it irritating when people brag about how they're going to steal or fake their way through an assignment ;>

Hey don't get me wrong... I take pride in my own writing. Steal? Never. I would never plagerize from another resource. Faking or BS? BSing is a great skill, it's a laywer's skill.

You can set the act into "right" or "wrong", either way it affects nobody. I know how to get secondary support. In any case I wasn't about to write a paper "pro-grapes-of-wrath", which in this case was exactly what I needed to do to get a better grade. I'm stubborn, it was worth the poor grade to write my own words.

Yea I'm leaning towards that. I figure I would walk in, raise my leg and let it flow all over her desk! Hell Yea! I got a "C" for the 9 weeks btw :p.

A 'D' Prower. He's going to get a 'D'. No matter what he does, that's it. Is a 'D' worth killing yourself trying to make an 'A' paper? Absolutely not. The lady is a bitch. "My way or the highway" type, and those people SUCK when given authority. Her system is unreasonable, not Danoz's approach to it.

Yup, exactly my point.

Lol, after all the serious ethical debating in this thread, I wasn't expecting that.

That's really obnoxious.
