Some of the better quotes from movie reviews:

Yu-Gi-Oh is the next Pokémon.

Having ensnared legions of little shits who just have to collect everything involved with the game, they're now coming out with shitty movies. That's exactly what described Pokemon in 2000, and that's what describes Yu-Gi-Oh now. Whomever came up with Yu-Gi-Oh needs to be dragged into the desert, raped, and shot.

Hits Punjman with a big stick for that... Oh wait "CardCaptor" is crap. Stupid bastarized version of Card Captor Sakura, where they remove all that was good by trying to make it more Shonen crap. Carry-on...

Although Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! arn't as crappy as anti-Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! people make them out to be. Like I can say Mewtwo Strikes back is crap, one the other hand I liked The Power of One and Spell of the Unown Oh Kei. While I didn't "won't" see the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, unless like CN show in a year or two, I will say the isn't half bad though it has problems, still it's easy to see why it's more popular than Pokemon. Though one has to wonder why Yugi... Yami what-ever doesn't just punch out the rare hunters as there was no reason that that wouldn't have worked. Waisting time playing cards, why? I mean season one atleast there was a reason to play the game, those guys had gu... invisable guns, stupid censorship. Oh well I digress from bring up sorted Yu-Gi-Oh! crap that shows it's faults.
It's obvious that most of this board feels nothing beter than then to attack Yu-Gi-Oh! when ever mention. It's obvious that the card game are kind of stupid I mean Magic, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, but whatever it just a fad. And sure the Yu-Gi-Oh! games aren't anything to write home about, but that warrent everone from attacking the Anime and the Manga not really. Another thing Anime movie are usually written for there audiance in the first place so if the Yu-Gi-Oh! movies get crap reviews from people who don't like Yu-Gi-Oh! at all in the first place so what, plus censorship can kill these things sometimes. Not to say the Yu-Gi-Oh movie might have a crap plot though, cause it might. I mean Pokemon tear? what the hell were the Pokemon movie writers thinking. I could imagen the same fate befalling a Dragon Ball movie had it been in comerial theaters, really. As for Digimon and Dual Master now those are just Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh rippoffs and have as much weight as Josie and the Pussycat or Fangface to Scoobydo. Transformers Armada not a great thing, though Energon is abit better but then they're all compaired with the original so they can't exactly expect much. Medabots? huh what's that some sort of joke, far be it for me to judge robo battling shonen anime for 8year olds that I've never seen, but is this some sort of Custom Robo(N64) rippoff of something.
...
Oh I should stop rambling, I should. It's silly I stop talking to Punjman after I said "carry on" and started rambling about the original topic poopy(only in the name of comidic enterprise did I say poopy).

Magic may have become a fad at one point, but it was a game before, and is still now. It has always been a great card game, not just some silly craze.

I got no problems with KIDS playing these things...but the moment an adult over the age of 17 starts playing these god-awful rediculous fucking pokeman/magic the sucking/yu-gi-uhhh *throws up* I feel like shooting them in the face. I'm almost 25...do I still play with my Gi-Joes? Do I still run out to the backyard and play with my hotwheels in the sand? Fuck no, I find it weird how ADULTS can direct, story-board, and cast this rediculous BS. <img src=smilies/2gunsfiring_v1.gif>

Yah, and Pokemon was a game at one point and not just a silly fad and still is too. What's your point? The game Nintendo created is still a good game. The card game is what became a fad.
Yu-Gi-Oh! is differant though as it was a manga, and that's where it's true merits should be judged.

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh is the next Pokémon.

I'll agree only if your talking the cardgames, at lessed as far a Pokemon is conserned. While the story has never been a strong suit of the game it is still a fun game series. Obviously if you were talking the video game you've got issues, as the same thing could just as easily been projected to Final Fantasy say one, which would run the risk of making you a hipocrit, which I hope you aren't. Pokemon probable will evolve as most Nintendo games do but I dout it's ever become truely "adult" as it isn't their way.

why does everyone make such distinctions between children and adults? i think shigeru miyamoto said it best:

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primative, primal,
as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has
more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating,
I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for
children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character
of a child."

I will state what has been said a few times before. The anime/movie=ass. The manga=roxorz. Seriously, you get to see a 13 year old electrocute a gang of thugs with their own tasers.

Uh, yeah.

It's a movie. About Yu-Gi-Oh. Of course it's going to suck.

Everything about the franchise is aimed at 9 year old children. I mean, that's lke going to see "The Land Before Time 3" and expecting something moving and deep.

The only people who venomously argue that it didn't suck are A) 9 year olds and B) Fat nerds who watch anime 24/7 while scratching at their sweaty, pus encrusted, lesion covered bodies.

As always, Captain Obvious coming to the rescue!

Yeah, I remember buying the Pokemon game when it first came out on GB, well before it became like this kiddified fad and being blown away by the replayability and the neat concept of it. There's tons of people who think it was created merely for making money, but ya know...there's a brilliant game there.

Agreed. I think they really scewed up the Yu-Gi-Oh anime, from what I've seen and that's not really a lot. It doesn't help that they cut out the early parts of the story, like Yami Yugi being an evil bastard and causing thugs to be electrocuted by their own tasers, catching a homicidal maniac who was threatening Anzu (no Tea Gardner crap thank you) on fire via a rather twisted shadow game, and stuff like that.
