GTFO of my Mario Kart DS with your shitty connection

I hate people who play Mario Kart DS over a dial-up or unstable connection. It makes their cart jump all over the track and impossible to hit with any of the projectile weapons. Worse yet is when they have so much lag that it looks like you won the race but they actually passed the finish line before you but were lagging so much that it looked like they were behind you. If you can't afford a decent connection, stop playing MKDS.

You're welcome.

Hopefully, I should be getting myself a wireless router (along with a Wii and a DS Lite) before the year is out. How will a 2 megabit ADSL line do for Mario Kart DS?

Just fine. I'm talking about people who play it over dial-up. The lag that they cause actually gives them an unfair advantage since it makes them impossible to aim for when firing items.

see thats the thing. people with shtty connections still have 60fps. what Nintendo should do is show the player what it looks like to other players. like quake you have a shitty connection you will see a dude in the distance, red, then death. Spawn then death. that way they don't play! Thats why highspeed is not an option but a requirement.

They could do blizz style. They wouldn't see choppy fps, but a huge response delay between command ordered and action executed. It's funny to play a laggy diablo 2 and see fallen ones dying when you are fucking away already.

Hm, didn't I play you in MPH with my dial-up? I remember you saying it worked fine...that's odd then. Maybe the network code is better in MPH?

I don't have MPH, and I don't have anyone on my friends list in MKDS. We've never played together before. On the other hand, if you get yourself some non-dial-up internet and you want to race me, I'll be happy to add you to my friends. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>

Just got my wireless router in anticipation for the Wii... already have a DS but no wifi games for it yet...

Oh, wait, maybe it was Pipes....man, my old friend list got 'broke', so I'm not sure anymore. Heh, I don't have Mario Kart...it's one of those games I intended to get eventually but never did. I don't have anything but dial-up right now anyway...eventually maybe I'll have something better (I can only hope).

What's required for playing DS games online, just a wireless router? I just bought a DSL and six or seven games yesterday. :>

You need a compatible Wireless Router/Access Point (See the Nintendo WFC site for more info; only some routers/access points work) or an official Nintendo USB dongle.

Or if you have a wireless card some can go into softAP mode. May be a bit cheaper if you have a router already.
