Gorillaz' Demon Days

Simply put, if Gorillaz keeps making albums like their first 2, they will quickly become my favorite group of all-time. Versatile and inventive throughout most of the album, with only a couple okay songs. My faves by far are "Every Planet We Reach is Dead" and "Dare". However good "Feel Good Inc" may be, it's only my 6th fave on the album. My favorite Gorillaz song in general is still "Sound Check (Gravity)", but I think Demon Days as a whole is a much better album than their first. Their first went for the trippy sound, which was pretty good, but this album is so much more vivacious and groovy that you wonder why you liked the first one so much! It's like Damon Alburn remembered this time why people used to really like Blur and used a lot more of those elements. Anyone else like this album a lot?

I don't think Damon Albarn needs to have the same sort of elements that made Blur succesful - this in an enteirely different project, which could lead to something else that has no correlation to Blur at all, other than the vocalist. feel Good Inc is somewhat overrated. That doesn't make it a bad song, just not that great in comparison to some of their otehr work.

I am a Gorillaz fan, but if you want something quite versatile and inventive, give a try to Mr. Bungle. It's a different "genre" than Gorillaz, where Gorillaz aimed to some connection with hip-hop/trip-hop, with some other styles, Mr. Bungles approach an incredibly wide array of styles, and somehow, makes it all coherent.

If you are interested, try Ars Moriendi (my most bestest fav song), None of Them Knew They Were Robots, Squeeze me Macaroni and Goodbye Sober Day.

Sound Check (Gravity) is indeed a very good song.

I don't know Mr. Bungle THAT well, but I have heard a bunch of their stuff, and I do especially like Goodbye Sober Day. My problem with them is that while they aren't THE most random band I've heard, they're pretty close. They have some songs that practically are incoherent. The randomness on Goodbye Sober Day seems to work pretty well though.

Definitely. Feel Good Inc. is actually my 7th fave on Demon Days now...that was quick! Dare is the bomb though, and I usually don't like songs like that. I'm sure there's better similar stuff than Gorillaz, but I have yet to hear them though, so Gorillaz is the shit for the time being, hehe.

I love them since the first time I heard Clint Eastwood. I didn't knew he was the guy of Blur until recently.

Part of what drew me to finding out about them was when I heard that song and was like "Isn't that the Blur guy? What the heck is this?!" Then, based on the fact that it was him and that Clint Eastwood was so good, I bought their album. 'Twas only the 1st time I've gotten a CD of a new band after knowing only 1 song on it, and it wound up rockin'!

This reminds me, I really need to get their CDs. Clint Eastwood does indeed rule. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>
