Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Almost as if to make up for H2G2 being one of the most boring craptastic movies I had seen in years, I just saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and I'll be damned if that isn't one of my instant all-time favorites. It's one thing when Kaufman does tricky stuff, like in Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, but this tricky movie has some magic in it. IMO, Jim Carrey was never better than this, even when he was hilarious as hell in other movies. I always appreciated the drama he showed in The Truman Show (another deep and thought-provoking movie, especially with all the "reality" shows now), but he really endears you to him in this. That or maybe I was endeared to him because I can relate to the kind of person he is. Kate Winslet and everyone else was pretty good too. I'd go into it more but wouldn't want to spoil anything. If you haven't seen it, fucking see it already! I can't believe I waited this long!

I saw it a while ago, it reminded me very much of something Philip K. Dick might have written. Which is a good thing. I haven't seen any of Kaufman's other movies but I'll be making a point to do so.

I enjoyed it, too. I also thought "The Villiage" was good, simply for the fact that it is so incredibly well acted. Eternal Sunshine was pretty good, I especially liked Kirsten Dunst (as I always do in everything hehe). I also enjoyed the Truman Show a lot, that movie really affected me when I saw it. This one did, but I was less connected to the characters because I couldn't imagine trying to erase anything in my life.
