Did the Cold War actually end?

Along a similar spin on 'major combat operations ending' in Iraq 5 years ago - did the Cold War with Russia even end?

The recent events between Georgia and Russia have placed the U.S. in a precarious position and, for common opinion, escalated Russia to the #1 concern for the U.S. now. Dethroning Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran.

Russia! - New Number 1 Threat!! (God, can't we space out this cyclical nonsense a little bit more?)

An argument can easily be made that Russia has more legitimacy in this conflict with Georgia than the U.S. had for invading Iraq. Yet our droll President condemns Russia for the recent attack, furthering the divide and highlighting the U.S. hypocrisy within it's military policy.

The harsh facts related to who ought to condemn who:

Russia may have killed a few thousand civilians in this conflict with Georgia, that already looks to be subsiding. Coalition forces in Iraq (Georgia the 3rd greatest contributor), are estimated to have killed more than one million Iraqi civilians in their dubious and ongoing war.

Look at China in the media and how 'communism' is prefixed at every single opportunity, even if it is irrelevant to the topic at hand.

That's all you need to do to check whether or not the Cold War is "over."

To speak of the Cold War, we must define what the Cold War actually is. Some say that the Cold War was a conflict between Communism and Capitalism, or between the super-powers the USSR and the USA. However, it could be said that it is both. If it is both, then to say it is specifically one or the other is an error, and yet at the same time, true to a certain extent. If we argue that capitalism can never fully cease to be in conflict with a system that opposes it, then we might say that the Cold War never ended, as long as there is any resistance to capitalism. In OTHER WORDS, THIS IS A SILLY LANGUAGE GAME ;P

haha you bet it is all semantics. Yet the common societal meaning of 'Cold War' has been a term used for fear-mongering the masses. Much as the term 'Terrorism' is used today. This was more or less the implication I wanted to make with this post: That it doesn't end. Only the labels change. And even then, the gov/media manipulators have the brass to recycle threats.

unrelated: I enjoyed a political commentary about McCain's speech at the RNC when he said he was "willing to give his life for his country". And the pundit's response: "Willing to give his life but not willing to ask the wealthiest in our country to give some of their wealth (no tax cuts for the super-rich) to help their country".
