How many poeple here have found that thier "views" of the world change as they age?
A few years ago, when this board was alive with libs vs cons, i was more liberal. As I age, i become much more conservative on certain things.
For example, I love my medical coverage in Canada! It is great. I hate taxes. I could accept being hosed if my taxes were going to this great medicare, but they are not.
It pisses me off that while I paid about $25 000 to 30 000 cdn in taxes last year, the government paid a fellow family member 70% of their income to stay home for 4 months
You see, they are subsidising the company he works for by paying the workers "pogey" over the winter. The workers are laid off in the winter and than rehired again come spring.
I do not have a problem with EI insurance helping out an idividual for a a month or two to get back on their feet. But year after year paying the workers of a company to stay home so the company does not have to pay thier wages, i just cant stand it!
It is not a matter of fairness. It is a matter of taking my hard earned money and spending it on some asses who have no desire to find a better job because they get 4 months of paid (by me and other tax payers) vacation a year!
I hate that!
Further, I am in a union. Do not get me started on that! Aye yi yi yi! Paying dues to a group of people who look out for the people who deservedly should be fired!
