Hi all,
Recently I made a few videos on my "JonLeung1" YouTube channel, for "One Minute Of Music from EVERY NES Game" and "One Minute Of Music from EVERY SNES Game" (in two parts). Not sure if I should post direct links here, but you can find them easily if you're interested.
In order to make them, I had to listen to every game's soundtrack, which took a lot of time!
But in order to that, first I had to hunt down NSF and SPC/RSN music files for the NES and Super NES, respectively. Many of them were acquired through Zophar's Domain, and for the few that I couldn't find anywhere, I had to figure something out (like recording from my own Miracle Piano, or having to play a bit of the NHL games) if the soundtrack files weren't available.
Now to the crux of it...
I'd like to continue to make similar videos, with the Game Boy, Genesis/Mega Drive, and Nintendo 64 likely candidates for the next video. Or maybe eventually I'll do all three!
The problem is, I haven't been able to find a full set of GBS/VGM/USF music files.
I count this many games that still don't seem to have files (this list has been edited to show what I currently still need):
73 Game Boy (NA & PAL)
77 Nintendo 64 (NA & PAL)
163 Genesis (plus some PAL Mega Drive exclusives that I haven't really looked into yet)
(I can provide a list of specific games if anyone is interested.)
I could be slightly off with the numbers, but it's definitely a lot. It's not feasible to just fill in the gaps like I did for the NES / Super NES.
I've used Zophar's Domain for years, but this is my first post, so I guess it's a bit much to show up in the forums and suddenly ask for hundreds of music files, LOL. But I guess it can't hurt to ask, and maybe I'll learn something.
Are the soundtracks for these games not ripped after all these years, because they CAN'T be ripped? Or that no one bothered to?
(The latter seems unlikely, but if that is the case, at least it would mean it could still be technically possible if someone is interested...)
Failing that, is there a set of MP3 soundtracks (at a consistent volume) that could be used as a substitute?
Let me know, please and thanks! (I know it is a lot to ask...)
