I accidentally semi-bricked my compy by uninstalling an OS. Now the only way that I can make it useable again is those goddamn recovery CDs. What's funny about that is that the Windows Vista HP recovery CD wouldn't run at boot-up, like it's supposed to, while a Windows XP Gateway recovery CD ran fine. There's something wrong with that picture...

Well, there are some very bad men that burn illegal copies of OS's and get serials from websites.

but that's illegal.;)

so you have a gateway OEM XP OS on your PC now? What's the problem? Did you want vista or something?

No, it had Vista. I installed Ubuntu Linux one time, and didn't want it anymore, so I deleted its partition. Well, my compy still tried to open the OS select screen at boot-up, but it was giving an error message and froze up. I tried the Vista restore disk provided by HP, but it didn't work for some reason.

Actually, the XP restore disk was for my stepmom's old laptop.
