I've exhausted more or less all of the hex editors listed on ZD, yet none of them have really satisfied me so far. The best so far was Hexposure because it is one of the few which lets you edit Thingy-fied text rather than just the hex values. But that one was rather buggy... anyone have any suggestions?

Translhexion (which is on ZD and you seem to have missed it...) or http://stealth.romhack.net/Docs/Docs.htmWindhex.

yah, Windhex is really great, and probably the only stand-alone hex editor i'd use. If you're wanting a really sweet tool for editing text though, i can't recommend bbitmaster's updated http://www.zophar.net/Files/fceuxd.10a.zipFCEUXD emu enough. You're able to load the tables, edit hex, and see changes during gameplay. That means you don't have to reload the rom and navigate to the text every time you change something. not to mention all the other freaking amazing tools in the emu

Yeah, it's cool, but I don't get too much use out of it. By the time I get an English font hacked into a rom, everything is unreadable while playing .

But yeah, it's definately worth checking out.

Yeah, I tried Translhexion, and it's a great editor despite the fact that I can't edit it Thingy -> Hex...

Translhextion is terrible, not to mention slow and full of bugs. You're better off using WindHex32 or WindHex32 EX (one is nice and compact, the other's full-screen, depends on what you're looking for, hmm?) Both are written by Bongo`, and can be found in the documents section of his website. (http://stealth.romhack.net/)

How do you mean? It supports Thingy tables.

Why is that? The program works good for me. Supports everything that Thingy32 supports, it's even better.

Well see, since I'm rather lazy and a beginner at rom hacking and stuff, I'd rather that I could type out what I want to be displayed in the text tab, and have the program convert that Thingy text into the hex version.

You mean Quiconvert (http://www.romhacking.com/utils/general/script/quiconvert-100.zip)?

Yeah, I used that way of editing also. But then I began actually using tables. Let me tell you how if you don't know. Make a table file for your game. Open up the rom in Translhextion. Press CTRL+T and select the table you just made. Then press ALT+F and type in some text you want to find. When you found what you want just press ENTER and type the text. The editor will automatically convert this to hex and write. When you are done, save and try the game.
