View Full Version : My New Final Fantasy 3 Hack is Done

Hey guys, I made some pretty nice gameplay and challenge improvements in Final Fantasy 3. Unlike other challenge improvements for this game, it doesn't make the game stupid impossible and totally devoid of fun. I believe a challenge is something that should be balanced perfectly to MAXIMISE the enjoyability of a game. Too much or too little ruins it completely.

The game has been tested most of the way through. I still haven't beaten most of the dragons yet, and have about 5 more sidequests before I've gone all the way through. Suffice to say, everything has gone smoothly so far so I wouldn't expect any problems.

This is my second complete ROM hack after Super Castlevania 1.

Ya'll want me to post the hack here? I'd post it to the hack repository, but the apathetic idiots at ZD totally ignored my Castlevania submission, so I'm sure they'll do the same here.

BTW, my next hack will probably be Final Fnatasy 5 (that game sorely needs a challenge improvement!), and a simple Chrono Trigger challenge improvement. After that, I'd like to do a couple things to Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 if I ever figure out how.

The last hack I'll probably do will be a total reworking of Chrono Trigger with the new CT hack tool. Everything but the base art will hopefully be changed. That will probably be all the hacking I will do for the rest of my life.

Anyways, rock on, hack people.

I think you have it backwards. US is FF3, and Japanese is FF6. I have hacked FF3, the US version. Version 1.0 to be exact.

no, say 6 so that people don't get confused with FF3j

If you're going to refer to it as FF3... at least say FF3us. A good portion of people (especially FF buffs) see "FF3" and think the Japanese NES version... not the US SNES version.

I tend to go with FF3 and FF3j, given that I'm standing in the united states right now.

Apathetic idiots? Okay. I never saw your submission. Send me the new one (and the Castlevania one for that matter) and I'll add 'em to the archives.
And don't be nasty to people who do things for the site. It's not just mean, it's friggin' rude.

Oops. I apologize for being a jerk... Sorry, I was just frustrated for spending so much time and being totally ignored.

I'll resubmit the Castlevania patch as soon as I have time. I'm not quite sure another FF6 challenge patch is needed since I just realized there are so many already. I may just submit that one to this board.

Thanks, and apologies again.

Hey, I don't, in one sense really blame you. Just let me know and I'll add the stuff to the archives.
