I am running original Playstation1 cdroms on latest ePSXe emulator for PC/windows on 1,92 GHZ winXP machine (256MB ram, 128MB Nvidia Geforce5200 vidcard), with a fast dvd-rom drive. the games work fine, the soundeffects are fine too, only the backgroundmusic is intermittant, not fluid. i've tried different soundplugins and different framerate-max settiings on the video configure. I live inthe Netherlands (NL) and run PAL PSONE cdroms.
Is this problem normal or is there a fix for it?

Which ones exactly? Off the top of my head, if you're certain it's streaming audio (like CD-Audio or XA) I'd try turning on SPU Async if you're using Eternal SPU or Pete's SPU. I had a thing in Castlevania where the streaming music stuttered a bit, but when I turned on SPU Async, allowing the SPU to run not totally in sync with the main CPU of the Playstation, it sounded fine.

'I use Pete's SPU plugin (v 1.15) or the newer P.E.OPs v 1.9 (also "Pete's") and have tried your suggestion of enabling SPU async. It does not help! no change whatsoever.

Does this occur with all games, or only some specific games? It could help to know what game is in question if it's a single game.

i've only got TWO PS1 games (Xevious 3D and R-types). The fault occurs in both games.

Try ripping ISOs of the games. It's generally the best way to play Playstation games on an emulator.

Hmm...can you play the tracks in a regular CD Player, or the Windows CD Player perhaps? Humor me here. :)
