View Full Version : Extract files from PS2 games for PSF2 Starter Kit?

I recently bought PC Genjin for PS2, and I want to see if it's possible to make a PSF2 from it.

The PSF2 Starter Kit mentions the possibility of necessary files being hidden in other files. Is there anyway to view (and extract) the contents of these kind of files?:

IOPRP280.IMG (in "MODULES" sub-directory)

Specifically, the game already has LIBSD.IRX, MODHSYN.IRX and MODMIDI.IRX in the "MODULES" sub-directory, which is needed for the PSF2 Starter Kit. I need to find a .SQ, a .HD and a .BD file.

Of course, this could be a game that requires a lot more effort/knowledge to create a PSF2 for than just using the starter kit.

Can I make a PSF2 from this, by finding the files I need in the other files, or am I wasting my time because it can't be done with the PSF2 starter kit?

Unless you're highly experienced in MIPS assembly, don't bother.

Not necessarily.

Join the psf_rippers Yahoo! Group and read through the massive archive of old messages. You should find directions somewhere in there on how to search through big files for the hd, bd, and sq data you need. All it takes is a little intuition and a hex editor.
