Which emulator would allow me to turn certain layers off, and capture video or screenshots as well?

ZSNES. On the keyboard, #'s 1-6 will let you turn each layer off, and pressing F1 will let you take screen shots as well! (they are saved with your roms.) Video recording can be done as well, I think it's through the miscelaneous tab under movie options. You should be all set now.

Well, Zsnes will allow you to toggle any of the layers off (by pressing the number keys) and take screenshots, but you can't capture video. As said in a different post, SNES9x will allow you to capture an AVI, but I'm not sure how to toggle layers, if you can (more than likely you can, I'm just not as experienced with SNES9x as I am with Zsnes).

Well, on the older versions of ZNES (which are almost imposible to find, v1.01 and under) you can record more than ten seconds of ZST, but now, only ten seconds can be recorded. But you, RickyMan, on the other hand want to record it in video format like AVI. Well like Sage said, go with the SNES9x (for video capture, otherwise, ZSNES is very easy to use for the rest.)

Thanks Sage, I didn't know that. Sweet.

Providing you don't need a large animation, you can always use frame advance and snap each one.

Offtopic, 9th, what happened to the dude with specs? Been wanting to ask where that image was from.

I might put it back up...I like Shrek 2, but Puss in Boots isn't the best avatar. ;)

Anyway, that was Lord Ilpallazo from the anime Excel Saga. He wants to take over the world, but as he says he's going to be prudent and start with the city of F, then work from there, because anything else would be arrogant. :P

I love Excel Saga...right up there with my weird sense of humor.

Ahh. I can't say that I've ever seen this series. How old is it?

Don't know why, but he reminds me of Citan for some reason. Maybe it's the specs...

1999, but not released in the US until 2002. If you're into weird humor, you'll probably like it. It mostly follows one of the Secret Ideological Organization of ACROSS's (Ilpallazo's organization) staff, Ilpallazo's lackey Excel. They're chronically understaffed, so it's only like him, Excel, and the sickly Hyatt. I dunno, I probably couldn't do it justice, you almost have to watch it. It spoofs just about every anime under the sun, and it's almost got absolute strangeness down to an art form.

I just checked out the first episode, it's bizarrely funny. Thanks for bringing it up.

No prob. It gets even better from there btw. In most of the episodes, Excel doesn't die like four times. Good thing the Great Will of the Macrocosm is there to set things right.

The first time I saw it though, I had to get used to how fast Excel talked...now I can keep up with her easier, heh.
