Introduction
------------
The goal of this project is to translate US version of Final Fantasy II
(which is (almost) equivalent to Japanese version of Final Fantasy IV) to
Thai. I call it FF4 Thai because in Thailand, almost all games came from
Japan. Thai knows this game as FF4.

The project was started in late July 2540 (1997) and was released its first
beta version shortly before August. The project is completed enough to be
first official release in August 2541 (1998). It takes me one full year to
translate.

Files in archive
----------------
- FF4T102.IPS Patch file
- FF4T.TXT This file
- FF4T-T.TXT This file (Thai)

Requirement
-----------
- A copy of US version of Final Fantasy II. Do not apply this patch to
Japanese version of Final Fantasy IV. The ROM must include 512-byte header.
  (Link available from my homepage.)
- Super Famicom/Super Nintendo Entertainment System with Disk System or
SFC/SNES Emulator (ZSNES or SNES9X preferred. Link available from my
  homepage.)
- IPS patcher (DOS version available from my homepage.)

Direction
---------
1. Extract the archive (you may have done it already.)
2. Get Final Fantasy II (US) (FF2.SMC) and IPS patcher (IPS.EXE for DOS)
3. For DOS, apply patch by

        c:\games\snes>COPY FF2.SMC FF4T.SMC <--
        c:\games\snes>IPS FF4T.SMC FF4T102.IPS <--

Note that the file size will increase from 1MB (8Mbit) to 1.25MB (10Mbit)
4. Enjoy the game.

Note. You must keep the original copy of FF2.SMC. The patch must be applied
to the original file only.

Progress
--------
The main story text is completely translated. However, some secret messages
may be left untranslated. Other text is almost completely translated. There
are some few untranslatable text, though.

The latest release, 1.02, does not contain any improvement over 1.01. The
only difference is new official homepage URL.

Help
----
I need your help. You know, it's hard to find all text myself. I think there
are a lot of text in battle screen or even some text in storyline I've
*never* seen. If you find any untranslated text, please tell me. Just note it
and send it to me. Note it exactly what you read (write in Thai). If you use
SNES9X, just hit F3 to save it and send .S96 file to me. (Please zip it to
reduce Internet traffic.) I can find original English text with my tools.

A bit harder problem! I can't find the word 'Level' in option screen. The
word 'Parry' and 'Change' in battle screen have been found, but they are
encoded. They are kept as 'Pary' and 'Chnge'. The game then insert 3rd letter
of 'Pary' at 4th position and insert 2nd letter from 'Pary' to 3rd position
of 'Chnge' thus make 'Parry' and 'Change'! Can somebody help me crack out
this routine?

There is a flashing bug when display dialogs. This bug is a side effect on
8x16 font implementation. Due to my very little knowledge of SNES
programming, I will try to fix this bug after I've completed the translation.
However, if any SNES programming guru want to help on this project, I'll
appriciate very much.

Thanks for your help!
