This is DreamSNES. A Super Nintendo emulator based on Gary Henderson's
Snes9X. It runs directly on the Dreamcast hardware without using any
SEGA or Microsoft libraries. It has been completely developed
using free tools. DreamSNES was created by Marcus Comstedt, Peter
Bortas, and Per Hedbor.

The nice anime/manga-esque graphics was made by Kathy Choi. More
excellent images by Kathy can be found in her gallery at
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/h/a/hana/hana.html .

For full credits (including translators) see the scroll text in
DreamSNES screen blanker. We will try to display these these names in
a more prominent place in future releases.

Get the latest version http://mc.pp.se/dc/dreamsnes/.

Also get the disc creation tool "DreamSNES installer" from the same
place. It will create an booting CD-R automatically for you. The
installer is available for Windows and Unix. There is also an untested
Mac version.

If you want to create the CD-R manually you do this:

To get DreamSNES running on your Dreamcast, you need to burn it on a
CD-R together with any SNES roms you want to run. There are no game
roms in the DreamSNES distribution, you have to get them
elsewhere. Remember that you may only use dumps of SNES roms that you
actually own in order to be 100% legal. Anyway, extract the contents
of the DreamSNES distribution (dreamsnes-0.9.8/dc/) into an empty
directory, and place any roms in the same directory. The maximum
amount of roms that can be used from one CD is 1024, but it is
recommended that you keep no more than ~50 roms. You must not use
zipped roms, you have to unzip them before burning.

A file (ROMS.LST) can optionally be added to the same directory as the
games on the CD to speed up the rom scan. The game names will then be
taken from the file instead of scanning the rom header. If used, the
games must be listed on separate lines with each line containing the
name of the file containing the rom dump, a colon, and finally the
name of the game. The filename may not contain a colon, but all
characters are legal in the games name. Files not found in ROMS.LST
will be scanned as per usual. Example with two games:

  smoon.smc:Sailor Moon: Ballon Fight
  tetris.fig:Tetris

When you have the necessary files in a directory, make that into a
self booting disc as described on http://mc.pp.se/dc/cdr.html. Just
give mkisofs the name of the directory and it will add everything in
the directory to the iso. Then apply the supplied IP.BIN on the
  resulting ISO.

You can also burn the roms on a separate CD and swap CDs when the
emulator has booted. If you do, you must also copy the sounds
directory to this CD.

When you have got the emulator running, read the built in help for
answers to questions like "How do I exit get back to the menu when
playing a game?" and "Where is select?". There are also answers to
frequently asked questions at

some awesome music included. See CHANGES for details.

v0.9 - 20001007

This is the first public release. Most stuff works, but it's
still pretty slow. Expect around 50% speed in most cases. The
background music for the menu has been disabled as it didn't work
properly, sorry. Don't download this version if you want a really
playable system, it's more for the curious who don't mind wasting a
CD-R on playing around with a beta.
