You must compose a musical piece (original or your rendition of an existing song) using Mario Paint for the SNES with the internal music editor.

You must use the Super Nintendo emulator ZSNES (available from http://www.zophar.net/snes.html) and create an ZST (ZSNES Save State). For more information regarding the creation of ZSTs, refer to the documentation of ZSNES. Your submission should include the ZST file, a text file providing your name, email address, phone number and age, and the file size of the Mario Paint ROM you used to play. Submissions can be emailed to mariopaint@zophar.net. We're not responsible for lost/misdirected mail, or late submissions.

When creating the ZST, you must do so while still IN THE MUSIC EDITOR within the game.

You must use the English version of Mario Paint (the most widely used filename is "Mario Paint (E).smc" and its size is 1.0 meg). If we can't load your ZST, we can't judge it. You may submit multiple songs and you will be judged on the best one. Multiple submissions do not increase chance of winning.

Contest scheduled to start on 07/09/01 and will end on 07/15/01 at 11:59pm EDT. Submissions received after the ending date will not be eligible. Winners will be announced soon thereafter and receive their prize within 60 calendar days of the contest ending.

"Cheating" and fraudulent submissions are decided at the sole discretion of the judge(s). Cheating and/or fraud are defined as, by example and not limitation, representing someone else's work, modifying the ROM, or modifying the emulator. All judgments are final and non-negotiable. We reserve the right to void any prize awarded if cheating or fraudulent submission is found.

Submissions remain the property of the submitter, however by submitting work you give Zophar's Domain permission to reprint, reuse, reorganize, remix or otherwise use or alter the composition for any purpose, including but not limited to promotional use or resale. You shall not assert any claim or right to revoke these rights or seek any compensation, including but not limited to royalties.

You must own the actual Mario Paint game cartridge in order to participate. Any employee/private contractor, past or present, of Zophar's Domain, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promoting agencies, and their immediate families are not eligible. Any person under the age of 13 is not eligible. Prizes consist of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize. Potential winners must execute any required Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form within 15 days of attempted notification. Noncompliance within this time period may result in disqualification and an alternate may be selected. Return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate may be selected. Prize acceptance constitutes permission for Zophar's Domain, its agencies and participating sponsors to use recipient's name/likeness for advertising/trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Recipients of prizes assume all liability for any injury/damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this promotion or use/redemption of any prize. By participating in this promotion, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges whose decisions are final. Sponsors not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing, the offering or in the announcement of prizes.
