AVG Control Center->Email Scanner->Properties->Plugins->Configure->Uncheck both "Certify Mail"s.

I figured that out, but it still keeps insisting on scanning my emails. I turn it off, it bitches, I reboot and it's turned on again.

I chose not to install the mail scanner so it never yells at me. Do you see any uninstall options? Maybe do a complete uninstall and then choose not to install the mail scanner during the reinstall?

I hadn't thought of that. I just went with a standard installation, I didn't know you could choose not to install that component. Thanks. I'll muck around with that in a bit.

You can turn off certification and still keep scanning. Look harder, it's definitely there.

I turned that off. My problem was that it kept scanning my emails, regardless of what I told it to do.
