Now, I'm a smart user, normally a virus is never going to sneak up on me, I'm too smart for that. Every once in a great while though, somehow something will sneak through. Then my AV software will catch it. It's not a bad thing to have, I have it for the same reason I have anti-spyware software...just in case, should something manage to sneak onto my system somehow.

Which is exactly my situation. I'd rather have a backup for whenever I don't expect a virus attack.
I learned my lesson with MyDoom. :P

Antivir 7 - blows chunks Part Deux
Well, I uninstalled Antivir, and installed AVG. Works like a charm, except it now messes with my email program whenever a message comes in and it forcefully "certifies it doesn't have a virus". Well gee whiz, isn't that useful. Not. I disable the email scanning function manually, and the program complains... and then it turns the plugin back on when I reboot... Blegh.
And to answer the whole DVD thing... seems that Antivir 7 messed with my DVD burner's buffer. I did some backups over the past two days, and the buffer (as shown in Nero) kept being depleted, the burning stopped for a few seconds, the buffer was refilled and then burning resumed; this made the process last for about ten more minutes than usual. I normally burn DVD-Rs at 4x (safer that way) so they take around 15-20 minutes to complete.
So yeah. Thanks for the help.

You mean those FUCKS NEVER fixed that?!
I told them that it wasn't a trojan. I told them where to download the file, and they agreed and said it would be removed!
Fuckers.

I haven't checked recently, someone was complaining about it about a week ago, I don't know when you contacted them.

Oh, quite recently.
Over a year and a half ago.

You can turn off the certification in the email scanner properties, under plugin settings or soemthing like that.
My wording of it may be way off, but I know you can do it.
