Default Modify your Cable Modem!

High speed without the high price/other program

I figured this out while messing around with mine and finally got it working.

Start > Run> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\VxD\MS TCP
Once you get there, Cntrl F to the string DefaultRCVWindow
Edit the number to 64240 then restart.

and highspeed you go!

The cost is increased memory usage.

That doesn't help one whit if your speed is capped ISP-side, which most ISPs tend to do.

yeah, dont know what ISPs that cap from the client are thinking, when a quick hack can totally change that.

In order to test this on Wnidows 2003 Server you'd first need to even have that key. Thankfully all the defaults are set for good speed. kthx This would work very well with win2000 and 98.

Wouldn't it also affect missed packets? You'd have to resend a larger chunk of data wouldn't you?

That's not affecting the cable modem. That's affecting how Windows accepts its internet connection.

http://www.speedguide.net/ is a good site that'll take a look at your Windows settings and configure them for your connection, make it a .reg file, and basically handle it automatically.

I work in the Cable Modem industry, and tell my customers to use this.
