*sigh* well the people have spoken
The proposition to ban civil unions has passed by a huge percentage here in Michigan. I guess that our state decided it was time to show them damn homos who was boss. This really strikes me as sad though. Because the argument I keep hearing is "Teh fags will spread the aids" and "Next we will be marrying animals". Are the people in this country really that much of a bunch of close minded fucks? Maybe not all of us, but a rather disturbing majority? I can't say I was around when the civil rights movement occured, but if the bs then was worse than this I honestly am shocked it ever got off the ground.

Re: *sigh* well the people have spoken
The thing that bothered me most was that "moral values" topped the choices of voters on exit polls....now, what i really dont understand is how people are so narrow and closed minded that they can only see "gay marriage" as a defining point of morality when the injustice of our great president have been so thoroughly spread through the world ordering the death of hundred's of thousands of people in the name of "terrorism"....if you ask me, this is very immoral and un-Christian behavior. There is no love and compassion in the heart of that man....only hatred, paranoia, fear, and evil....and we shall all pay dearly for it.

Well, you know what they say, the worst atrocities are done in the name of god. To bad people do not take that message to heart.
In a way I hate religion. Actually I both envy and detest religious people. I envy their faith but I detest the closemindness and black and white thinking.

Re: *sigh* well the people have spoken
My personal beliefs in religion and God have evolved a lot over the years, I went from devout Protestant to Atheist to Agnostic. I've reached a point though, I can finally admit I still believe in God. It's the Church/organized religion that I don't believe in.

Religion is just a means of controlling the masses. Spirituality is very personal and, in my opinion, very valuable.

It's quite simple, the overall level of intelligence in this country has dropped. People are trying to mimic el presidente! They are succeeding, to say the least. You see, he's been able to play with the peoples' fear and mold most of the public to whatever he thinks. Anyone who wishes to contest this, just look at the final attack ad of "Kerry ordering everyone to remain indoors and make sure they are wearing their chemical suits and gas masks." The ad focused on the US being hit by a 'dirty' bomb under Kerry's watch.

Re: *sigh* well the people have spoken
The law of God and the world of Man are two completely different things. What Man has to do to survive against others can sometimes (most of the time) go against what God intends. Such is the mortal coil.

Hear, hear.
A lot of people somehow seem to fail to understand that you can have faith without having religion, and vice versa. A lot of people equate being nonreligious with being immoral, and its rather sad because there are so many immoral religious people out there that you would think their exclusivity would be more obvious.

In alot of ways, it seems the most immoral people cloak themselves in religion.
