Default Good WYSIWIG HTML editor

I was wondering if anyone could point me towards a good (preferably free) WYSIWIG HTML editor (meaning a visual editor). I think it would help me a lot with a current project, and I tried using MS Publisher and realized that it blows goat chunks. Why in god's name would they have the proggie automatically re-compress images?

You can try either the trial of Dreamweaver or Frontpage Express. Don't know of any others off the top of my head.

Nevermind the recompression thing...that was a stupid mistake on my part.
I think I'll tack on another question here...

Now, I don't know anything but really basic HTML, so excuse me if this is a stupid question...but is it possible to have a graphic, then have additional text or another graphic overlaying that image? Like...if you could have a frame, and set the background to be JPG1.jpg, then have on top of that the word "w00t!" or the transparent file GIF1.gif.

Crimson Editor. It's got some nifty features and it be free. Easy to use, too.<img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

Sure. Just put the lower graphic in an invisable table as a background image and place the text or another image inside the table so it appears on top.

Ah, I thought that was how it might work...I guess Publisher really DOES suck because I could find no way to do that there. <img src=smilies/laff.gif> I'm really kinda wary of MS's HTML anyway...it's bound to have some weird proprietary tag in it somewhere that chokes on FireFox.

Although I was kinda looking for something more visual...but I guess I'll
just have to learn more HTML anyway.
