Cool New To this site

Hey,

I'm a programmer and old-school gamer looking to getting into building/modding NES games for emulation. Can you guys recommend a good NES disassembler? I'm a mid-level ASM programmer (8086) so it can be a more advanced package.

Thanks guys.

Just as a heads up, the 6502 is a completely different beast than x86, so be prepared to learn an entirely different architecture.

That aside, FCEUX would probably be a great place to start with its debugger. I don't know any standalone disassemblers though. I'd have to look.

I would recommend checking out NESdev if you're wanting to learn the programming side of things.

Thanks guys!

I'm currently taking a class in computer systems that is using the "PEP/8" emulator to teach the students basic assembly. When I looked at it and the 6502, some of the architecture seemed pretty similar (Accumulator reg, Index X reg, Index Y register, etc), so I hope it's not too far of a stretch.

I love a good challenge! Anyway, thank you again!
