Today,

I am officially in a relationship. I dont know the future in it. She is a student who came here to learn english. She is from Japan. I like her alot but she goes home in march.

Still, who cares. Life is to short to worry about such things!

Why would i want to do that? Other than her, what would the advantage to me be of moving to Japan. I cannot speak the language! I would be.....completely isolated and dependant on her. That is not a good thing!

What is a fanboy?

I will make the best of it for sure. She is so unbelievable innocent. Its kinda funny. I understand why though. She is very shy. Until a few nights ago, she had never been kissed!

Also, just yesterday i asked her how her day was. She told me that something funny happened. She said some strange guy stopped her and talked to her. SHe said she didnt like him, he was strange and made her feel uncomfortable. He asked her for her number. She refused and he gave her his.

THe thing is, believe it or not, she just thought he was being nice. She just thought he wanted to be "friends" and had no interest in her. I had to explain to her why he did that. She is very selfconcious. She is like a size 3 and worried about weight!

Its just strange. I know you might think me a fool for "believing" her, but I am not. The way she carries herself and acts verifies it. Its strange though but something kinda wonderful!

Learning a few words in a language is much different from being fluent in a language. It would be very difficult ESPECIALLY considering im in college and have alot of work to do! I dont know where i would find the time!

Actually, his response is the first thing that ran through my mind when I read your post. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

Anyway, it's not like you need to know Japanese to get by in Japan. Just learn the Katakana alphabet and you'll do fine; they Japanize just about everything, so knowing the alphabet means you can read English words that are simply written in Japanese. /wwwthreads/images/icons/wink.gif

Well, maybe not, but it's at least helpful. My Japanese teacher has taught me squat in the past 2 years of classes besides Hiragana and Katakana, the latter of which I found to be super useful in Japan when I was there for 2 weeks. Being able to walk into a restaurant like Subway and order a Turkey sub by reading (and actually understanding!) the various different things off of the menu thingy (taakii buresto or something of that sort is turkey breast, IIRC), couldn't be easier. /wwwthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif

That's rad. I know how that goes, to an even shorter extent, I met a girl when I was in Japan on vacation a couple years back. She was super nice and very cute - a model. We had a great time until I had to leave. She cried when we said goodbye. <img src=smilies/cry.gif>

We kept in touch with email. Not much more to do with that tho. Not just because of the distance, but her language speaking skills were poor. She can read and right english but speaking was pretty limited. And I don't speak a lick of Japanese.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy. I think Japanese women are some of the sweetest on the planet. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

No, I don't think you are a fool. In my experience, that is true of many japanese girls, especially if they are not from the major parts of Tokyo. My chick was from Kyoto, the old capital. So she was very traditional and innocent. It was sweet.

the term is used in many ways (usually in reference to console snobs these days)... but anime fanboys usually want nothing more than to be with a japanese girl. fanboys are usually totally immersed in whatever their interest is, to the point of total retardation. so when i say "anime fanboy", i'm referring to those anime fans who go so far as to say that western culture doesnt understand them... and they think that they should actually be japanese. the closest thing to that for them? a japanese girlfriend....
