In case anyone is interested, I'm doing another project, but this time it's a platformer. Much harder to code than simple puzzles.

That looks like it's going to be good. :D

Neat! I'll have to give that a try when you're done. =)

Thanks for the comments. Not much work has been done, though I've made it so the rom can have a potential 32000 rooms to go into. :)
I seem to suck at drawing trees. I need some trees for the BG in one area.

What would the tile dimensions be? I could give it a shot.

Well, the upper part would probably need around 9 or so 16x16 tiles. It can use black and 2 greens, but the last color must be left blue for the sky.
The central tile of the 3x3 block should also be made so it could be side-by-side with itself in case I ever wanted to make the tree 5x5 or something.
If you want to go at it, I'll certainly look at the results. Thanks.

So, just to make sure I understand correctly, it would be something like
[Bl][Bl][Bl][Bl][UL][UC][UC][UC][UC][UC][UR]
[UL][UC][UR][Bl][ML][MC][MC][MC][MC][MC][MR]
[ML][MC][MR][Bl][ML][MC][MC][MC][MC][MC][MR]
[DL][DC][DR][Bl][DL][DC][DC][DC][DC][DC][DR]
[Bl][Tr][Bl][Bl][Bl][Bl][Bl][Tr][Bl][Bl][Bl]
(UL=upper left folliage, MC=middle center folliage, etc., Bl=blank blue bg, Tr= Trunk tile)
and each tile is limited to a four color palette? (So for the trunk, two browns, black, and sky blue?)

You have the right idea.
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5381/28df0.png - This was my basic attempt, although the leaves are stolen from Wood Man. I only have that as a temporary.
The trunk is a full 16 pixels wide so it uses 3 browns. Hope that helps.

Did you have something like this (https://files.nyu.edu/jc73/public/stuff/tree/) in mind, or were you looking for something more realistic looking?

Actually, that's not bad in the least. I might alter it to have black around the edges, but I'll play with that design. Very nice stuff.

Thanks; I'm happy to be of some help. =)

Well, I implemented it. Here it is in action:

Neat. =) What system are you making the ROM for?
(Silly side-note: At first I accidentally T9-typed 'meat' instead of 'neat', which would no doubt have been a rather puzzling remark, so it's a good thing I rechecked my comment before hitting submit on my phone. =P )

This looks like a NES ROM, which would be pretty cool. I'll have to check it out when you're beta testing...if you plan on beta testing.

That is correct. This can answer Isildur's question too. I want to have something worth beta testing before doing so, but I'll definitely get a few involved if they are interested.

Here's a new video for those interested. Hope the tag works. I wish I could just write HTML myself.

This looks pretty fun. I like your gravity defying limes and snails with rocket launchers btw. :D
*edit*
Oh yes, and I like that music too. Did you do the music?

Yes. An actual NSF of some of the stuff can be found here:

I can't link to the file directly as that site doesn't seem to like me doing that, so the attachment in the post will have to do.

I would totally love to test this game. It looks really fun. It reminds me of several games but has a very original feel to it.
Keep up the good work!
