Let this be the thread where all five versions of GT, from 1 to 5-prologue, come together.
As I talk about my experience with this game, I would say it's the most relaxing ones I ever played. I used to own GT4 until it got damaged beyond repair and I had to throw it away. I do have GT 1/2/3, though.
GT1: This was one of the first games I had when PSX consoles were flying off the shelf. I did set quite a few records and spent a lot of time doing the endurance races for something big. My favorite car of all was the Mitsubishi GTO Twinturbo and that was well-modded to 930 HP on spec-4 turbo.
GT2: I played it as a demo and it did take time to get to know because the simulation map layout was different. This was also the debut of the infamous Seattle Circuit. It looked like the developers at Polyphony did cover Seattle quite a bit. But it wasn't as twisted as the one in GT3. It didn't matter what favorite car I had was, I just played it.
GT3: And this is another game I still have for the PS2 consoles, but I can't find it because I lost it somewhere. One of the hardest license tests I ever did was S-8 where the Toyota GT-ONE was going one lap around Monaco (Cote d' Azur) without ASM/TCS. But I kept playing it and I turned that into my biggest accomplishment. When I saw a breakthrough in Seattle where a GT-ONE broke through a narrow gap, that made me want to play the game again! Because that was a glitch where the vehicle can drive outside the track and go to certain places, even set a permanent speed of 2,147,483,647 mph. The well-modded GT-ONE and the F1 cars were my favorites.
GT4: Who could forget this one?! I truly enjoyed this game more than any other GT game released by Polyphony because it was simply a lot more relaxed. Even though some of the new gauges (fuel, N2O, and G-lateral) seemed a little bit too crowded, I loved the new look and feel. This was also the debut of the Nurburgring racetrack out of Germany and the Circuit de la Sarthe (should have been Le Mans) out of France. Several of my favorites include the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, the Polyphony F-1, and all the hidden "black" cars. If you want to know what the hidden Black cars are and where to get them, search for it as hints/cheats on Google. I so want to get this game again, if I can swap some of my other games.
