Me and my mum were watching TV, when we started hearing a strange noise. To be honest, the first thing I was worried about was my PC (it's not in the best of shape) but I listened again and found the sound wasn't coming from my bedroom.
Next came the smoke. A fairly impressive amount of smoke was coming from somewhere, some new-ish houses were blocking the view. I first wondering if one had caught on fire. After finding this wasn't the case, I thought a car accident had happened at the mini roundabout nearby. Either way, I couldn't be sure until I actually got there. So I threw some jeans on, got my shoes on (no time to bother with socks or laces) and started off to where it was.
Within a minute, it was clear this was in the supermarket carpark nearby and not the roundabout. I took a short-cut through the petrol station and soon found a car on fire at the other end of the carpark. Some guys had seen it, parked their cars at the other side and called the emergency services on their mobile phone. The police were already there when I arrived, the car was well ablaze but the petrol tank hadn't exploded yet.
The guys who'd called the emergency services were convinced someone was in the car. I was convinced anyone in there was both dead and stupid. The car had clearly been burning for a while and anyone inside would've had plenty of time to get out. Needless to say, I wasn't very worried. A fire engine soon arrived (guess that strike really is over) and had the flames under control in seconds. An ambulance arrived shortly later aftering getting lost tryinto get into the carpark but found no one inside.
A little later, people started leaving and the general conclusion was that it was likely someone had stolen the car, parked it there and set it on fire for kicks. It's unlikely anyone will get caught for it. I was the last to leave and got some trim as a souvineer of the event.<img src=smilies/thumb.gif>
I say this is the time to get an arcade established in this town! You want to get rid of arson? Get rid of boredom and get people into a good arcade! It may not work, but I'll keep it in business myself if I need to! I want this thing! It better have a few Neo Geos too....
