I just find it awesome that I have in possession a cartridge that had the power to completely fuck over an entire industry. If not for Nintendo coming to save the day, who knows what gaming would be like today. That is, if there would be any gaming. o.o;

Watch me miss the point again!
Well, that was mainly a problem for console games. As far as I am aware, arcades were not heavily affected. And other people besides Nintendo continued producing consoles, just with a visible lack of imagination in their approach to game design. Maybe there would be more, cheaper personal computers sooner, which I don't like to think about because I've seen the sort of games people used to play on those. Even the ones I liked then I'm largely indifferent toward now.

I want one of those as well. It's strange how so many of the carts apparently really ARE buried in the Nevada Desert somewhere.

Odd my sister own a copy of that, she got it with the second Atari she had to buy because they wouldn't sell the adapters separate. Piece of junk though I don't know much point in owning the worst game in history. However if you want a collection of worst games you'll need Bebe's Kids for the NES next. I wonder if there's a document list of worst games for systems including US, Japan, & Euro releases. Of course if we included China there would be quite a few pirate carts in there.

You forgot the other essential for digging up an ET cartridge...air fare to Texas, assuming you don't already live there.

So that's what that shovel in LttP was good for, besides the flute.
Edit: actually now that I think about it, I think there was also a Piece of Heart, but that and the flute are all I remember the shovel being good for, which pissed me off, since that "You got a shovel! Dig around-- you never know what you'll find!" message got me digging all over the place in vain. =P
HOW I MINE (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=155) FOR ET
Some things are classics forever, hold your head high
yea..i remember finding that thing when i bought an old atari at a garage sale. only realized a while later what a big deal it was to the industry. but my god was that a bad game!

1) E.T. is dirt common. (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=24035) Even Super Mario Bros. 3 is less common. (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=6064)
2) The carts that were buried were destroyed first and a concrete slab was poured on top of them. (http://www.snopes.com/business/market/atari.asp)

I got Final Fantasy VI, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger 5 years ago, all for the Super Nintendo, for 50 $
I got Illusion of Gaļa in exchange of some Magic The Gathering cards with one of my friend.
I also found Zelda - Ocarina Of Time - Master Quest for the GameCube, 2 years ago, for 40 $
I've seen Secret Of Mana once, but I did not buy it. Never seen Secret Of Evermore.
