View Full Version : Pharmacists who won't do their job.

In accordance to the new HIPPA regulations, our pharmacy is supposed to make customers purchase their prescriptions at their counters and nowhere else. Customers may not, under any circumstances bring them to the front registers.
That said, they apparently decided to break this rule and allow someone to come up with it simply because they (the pharmacy) were too stupid and lazy to cut a coupon out of the ad because the customer had multiple instances of the same item, thus requiring more coupons.
Not only does this upset me due to their laziness, but also because of their disobedience of their legal obligations. I also dislike the idea of any trouble that can be caused for me because of stuff like this. I know it's not a big deal this time, but their reasoning was still stupid.
I really don't like the pharmacy members and the stuff they get away with.

That's why I got the hell out of retail after working in it for such a short time - other people not doing their jobs either do to cockiness (our dept. is more important than yours) or as you pointed out laziness.
Someone ought to bring the hammer down on them.

You should tell the customers that legally you arent allowed to sell them the perscription. Tell them to go back to the pharmacy. Maybe even make a call back to the pharmacy to let them know that you've sent the person back to them and why. That's what i'd do.... but then, I'm stubborn and do things purely out of principle.

This is the first incident, so I really didn't think of saying that. I just was upset and pointed out to the customer about their obligation to do all Rx sales back there, but I still did the sale as I wasn't about to Void like 30 items.

it was the pharmacy members fault. Sending the customer back would be a bad idea, good customer service is essential, even when working with bullshit from other coworkers.
I'd suggest speaking to management about it. If they blow you off and this keeps happening and it still bothers you, leave. And I'm sorry to say, that's the more likely outcome of all this.
That's why I hate jobs. There's always some stupid-ass manager giving someone or some group the preferential treatment even though they suck or are lazy or stupid, etc...

Are all pharmacies supposed to do that?? Cause I noticed that when the new one in my town opened you used to be able to take them to the front. It was your choice of what you wanted to do. Recently when you get your medicine you pay for it right there. Guess I really haven't been paying attention to things.

I don't know, but I would imagine there's some sort of shared regulation about this. I don't go to other pharmacies, so I don't know.
