Is there something special with those cards ? Will any SD card work with the Wii, or only the Nintendo ones ?
Just a though.

You should be able to use anything, so long as it isn't an SDHC card (the high capacity ones, it'll say on the packaging).

In other words, as long as it doesn't say SDHC on it, it'll be fine
I should know, I use a 3rd party SD card myself for the homebrew hack :3

Well, technically there are a few standard SD cards that 4 GB, but as to them working, I have no idea. That goes way out of the Secure Digital specifications.

Question...who's gonna need 4GB of memory for the Wii? Not want, but need.

If they ever let you run games directly from SD (ie, VC and Wiiware stuff) I really would not mind it at all. I have a feeling I could fill that up eventually. Also, I was wishing I had more space on there, what with the homebrew PSX emulator in the works.

Yeah, I know. ;) I'm still not sure if it is running games directly from SD, doing some kind of a quick copy, or some sort of 'caching' of the title on the Wii's flash (which is actually what I thought they might do).
I hope it's something convenient, otherwise I'm going to be angry. :P

Yeah, umm...Microsucks already tried caching with Vista. I barely noticed any improvement when I used ReadyBoost, and even then...I had to open up the Task Manager, and watch the performance charts for about 5 minutes. Apparently, it's supposed to help with low-RAM computers. My computer has 2GB of RAM, so that may be why. Back to the original topic...
I'm hoping that Nintendo will think back to the good 'ol N64. I got LoZ:Majora's Mask for Christmas the year it came out, popped it into my N64 excitedly, and staring at the screen when it displayed the warning that I needed an Expansion Pak. I just sat there for a while, then said "Well, god damn it." What I'm getting at here is that the N64 is to Expansion Pak as the Wii is to a SD card.

That is what I'm hoping, that I can just eventually play games directly from SD. Also, what I meant by caching is something like a swap file in the Wii's flash. The flash would be faster than the SD (probably) so perhaps if they had to they could temporarily load one of the games to flash, loading files as they go.
