Hi.

I know that some of us have quite the collection of retro consoles and maybe even some old computers. I think it would be fun if we could post a list or even better some photos of our collections.

I'll start, but just with my small list since I have no digital camera.

Consoles:

Nintendo GC, 2 Pads, 2 MC's, a CD Wallet full of "backups" (bought it like this)
Sega MegaDrive 1st gen, 2 Pads, 13 to 15 games
Sony Playstation 1st gen, 1 pad, 3 or 4 games
Xbox 1.6, 2 pads, softmodded with 40gb hd for XBMC
Sony Playstation 2, 1 pad, 1 16Mb MC, Softmodded with FreeMCBoot & ESR
Nintendo DS Lite Black, 2 Original games (Mario & Zelda), 3rd Gen FlashCart
Sega Dreamcast, 4-pads, 2 MC, 2 Vibration units, 5 or 7 original games

Also, I got a Commodore 1084s where most of the consoles are plugged in. It's a nifty little screen almost as old as I am.

There was a time where I had lots (duplicates mostly) of old consoles, but then I was really out of cash and had to sell em.

...I'm sorry but I honestly cant see anything 5th generation and up as Retro

as for me, the earliest thing I currently own is a PS2, so sadly I don't own anything retro. At least, not any more.

I sometimes think that too, but then I look at the original Japanese release date for the PlayStation.

Yeah, since the Wii can play Gamecube games, it (Gamecube) rests in the closet collecting dust.

AS far as systems, I have a Nintendo 64, used to have a Gamecube (and I have the Wii now for that), and a busted up SNES that I'm pretty sure works still. I also have a messed up CD-i that doesn't work (yeah, I know...I was going to use it to play those terrible Zelda games :D). I also have an NDS.

I don't have a Playstation, but I do have games for it...I just use my computer for them.

wow, I used to have everything out as if it were on display, but now I just keep it all in some boxes. I have:

-NES 5 pads, power pad, 2 zappers, about 150 games
-SNES 3 pads, superscope, about 30 games
-3 old school game boys, 1 gameboy pocket, 3 gameboy colors, about 20 games
-sega genesis / cd / master system top attachment, 3 pads, about 30 games (12 of which being sega cd, 4 being master system)
-playstation, 4 pads, sadly no memory cards anymore.. , about 55 games ( last year's dollar bin helped that... couldn't resist)
-2 game boy advances, 1 gba sp, about 11 games
-nintendo 64, 3 pads, 2 rumble paks, 1 controller pak, 2 transfer packs, about 14 games
-sega dreamcast, 4 pads, 4 VMS's, 2 rumble pak things, keyboard, mouse, broadband adaptor, about 25 games
-playstation 2 4 pads (same 4 of ps1 above) 2 memory cards, online adaptor, hard drive, about 20 games
-gamecube... one broken pad, one broken game boy player, 3 memory cards, about 10 games

I just keep my eye open for stuff now, there have been time I almoast buy a saturn but then I decide that $50 or $75 is way too much to be paying in the year 2008.

I used to have an amiga computer I got a long way back... I can't seem to remember what happened to it. I got a packard bell sometime after that though.

Alot of the pre 1996 stuff was handmedowns... after that I was actually aware of the stuff I was buying... instead of getting a large brown paper bag everyonce in a while with random things.

Retro collections doesn't mean you had to buy the consoles when they were already old. You just need the consoles to be old, as you (as you said) could have bought them when they were new (but still be old consoles, like the Gameboy (Gray)).

The list of consoles I have are

NES
SNES
N64
PS1
PS2
Gamecube

And that's all I have. I am actually trying to collect retro systems and such as well as new ones.

Let's see...I have:

Commodore 64 (with the dot-matrix printer and all of that stuff)
Atari 2600 (if I could only find it...)
NES
Super NES
Nintendo 64
Sony Playstation
Game Boy (black and white)
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance
Gamecube
Playstation 2
XboxI consider anything not current generation to be retro. But retro is awesome to me! Oh, by the way...most of these are now at some of my relatives' houses. I know that my great-aunt has the NES and the Super NES, my grandma has the Commodore 64, and my cousin has the Xbox.

This is what I have in my retro collection. I have a commodore 64 with a big ass floppy and cassette player. We also have a atari with about 30 to 40 games and paddles. My wife still loves this machine she still plays it today. She says there is to many buttons on the new playstation 3 for her.I also have about 3 NES with paddles, zappers and aout 20 games but one game has about 50 or 100 games on it. Out of the three of them I think 2 work if you like blowing them.I could never understand why if you blow on the game half the time it would work. That is strange.I have 2 SNES paddles, zappers, and 10-15 games.I also have a gameboy b&w and 2 gameboy colored. Playstation 1 and 2 with all paddles and about 200 games.I have a xbox also with 12 games. But my prize machine is my playstation 3 I know it is not retro but I love the thing. I also forgot my TRS-80 computer from radio shack which still works today.Considering it is about 30 years old.. Well thats my retro collection.... ;)

I don't have much left as far as my gaming collection is concerned.

PS 1 - SCPH 1001. - It's about ready to die and overheats often.

Gamecube

Sega Genesis

Sega CD - I'm happy to say that it works perfectly.

Sega Powerbase Converter - A device that plugs into your Genesis, to play Sega Master System games.

All my other systems have died, including my NES. I'm looking for another NES so that I can build a CopyNES. Not really interested in the cart dumping functions, more in the devkit functions. I also want to test my NSFs.

It's been a while since I took a look at them... Just from memory:
2 N64's, neither working very well. Plus four or five memory cartridges and one controller.
2 NES's, sadly I lost a wire to them when I moved them.
SNES, working just fine.
Gamecube, which seems like it might die soon.
Gameboy advance, with only two games.
And one unexplainable PS controller. I don't even own a PS...

-NES, SNES; Super Scope 6 (which doesn't get used much), Zapper (I love Duck Hunt)
-Sega Genesis; Sega Channel Adapter (useless now), 32X add-on
-Gameboy Color (The old Pokemon Edition one)
-Gameboy Micro
-Nintendo 64 (with expansion pack)
-Gamecube (GBA 2 GC link cable)
-Playstation (which doesn't get used much because of the PS2)
-PS2 (the older kind that isn't slim)

MIA - GameGear that I lost on vacation. I loved that thing. Unless I was running it on batteries.

More recent ones... Nintendo DS, PSP, Xbox 360

Of course, standard controllers (most of them just 2 except the GC and 64 which have 4 each), memory cards (1 or 2 for each that require them except I lost my old PSX memory cards) and a game genie for the SNES which I have not touched in many years. I have various different games and demos as well. Goes without saying I suppose.

-A really old Tandy... can't remember the model. It's out in the shed somewhere needing to be thrown away. I used to play Avoid the Noid and Wolfenstine 3D on it about 10 years ago. Even then it was outdated I think. It has an old 5¼-inch floppy disk drive and DOS. Pretty unexciting otherwise.

I'd like to pick up some other consoles. Wii is tops on my list for now. I'd really like to find a Atari Jaguar too.

You know I'm wondering if any other companies will ever build another console and if it'll be able to compete with the newer models? I miss Neo-Geo. Did anyone have one of those?

This is something of a random question, but maybe you know....

The Jaguar version of Rayman IS supposed to have sound right? I had a Jaguar I got cheap at a garage sale, and while the game looked pretty, it didn't appear to have music. I was wondering if my Jaguar was messed up. :P

toasterhed
01-06-2009, 01:31 AM
Yes, it should have sound. I hope you didn't pay much for it. = P

There do seem to be quite a few on Ebay, as well as an unopened one with 30 new games? Hard to believe but at any rate it's $900. There are cheaper ones with fewer games and such. Most around $200 range. Kind of steep in my opinion. $19.95 for one that says as-is. I'll have to keep looking. For $200 or so I could buy a Wii.

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

Hooked up to my one T.V in a mess of co-ax and RCA cables are:

NES
SNES
Master System
Genesis
N64
Broken Gamecube with Gameboy Player
Wii
PS2
XBOX 360

The olny other thing that I would want at this moment would be a Turbo Graphics 16 with CD attatchment for Lords of Thunder (which I have on Wii Virtual Console). My NES and SNES can also run Japanese carts, so I'm not missing anything there either. I also have a super gameboy.

If we're also listing portable systems, I have:

GB
GB Pocket x4 all broken
GB Light
GBC
GBA
GBA Micro
Dingoo A320
NDSL

I have somewhere around 150 games, and the system that I have the most games for is the SNES. (GBA is second).

Judging by the other posts on this thread I may look a bit insane when you see my list, I have a touch of OCD apparently. There still several gaps on my list, hence systems I must acquire! I keep my collection on display in glass cabinets in our game-room/bar along with the systems' carts/discs, and accessories. I also have a similar size collection of early home computers and kits going back into the 1950's, but that sounds like another thread on another forum :) I don't know how my wife puts up with me sometimes...

A long time ago I slimmed down my console collection. I sold off pretty much anything that was emulated well. Here's what I have right now:

- Playstation 2
- Dreamcast
- Wii
- Xbox 360 Pro
- 2 Gamecubes
- PSP (2000 Series)
- DSi
- 2 Sega Saturns (One modded)
- 2 PSone's (one with the screen)

A lot of what I has been bought at choice times... for example, I have a ton of Saturn accessories because I bought them when Electronic Botique was selling them for $2-3 each. The PSone's and their screens were about $20 each at K-Mart and one of my Gamecubes is still new in box, $20 from Circuit City.

damn, that's a lot. Also, when you say game-room/bar... do you mean a commercial establishment? Maaaan I'd go to a geek bar in a heartbeat. You it isn't, you should open one up with your collection as decor. That would be fucking awesome. XD

also, here's a forum tip. When you make an error in your post, you can always edit, instead of deleting and making another post.

The gameroom is in our house, kind of a 1500 square foot man-cave, bar, poll table, ping pong, 10 foot HDTV screen, etc. if i wasn't such an un-trusting recluse i would open it up and charge admission. i'm on the east coast, long cold winters mean months of cabin fever so as a hobby it works well. cracking a beer and smelling the old circuits in these relics, the only things i'd rather play with are my wife's Double-D's

TheYorkGuy, that's quite a collection. O_O Props for giving less common systems like the Intellivision some love (I kind of wish I still had one of those).

Thanks, I took a few shots if anyone has a passing curiosity and a few minutes to waste. If anyone knows a better place to hotlink photos I'd love to hear it.

Mega Drive-2 controllers, several games
Game Cube,1 controller, 3 games
Amiga CD32,4 controllers (2 generic, the originals are crap) many games and magazine discs
Dreamcast, 1 controller, 2 memory units,20-30 games
PS1 (dead), 2 controllers, many games
PS2x2(1 1st gen and 1 slimline), 2 controllers, many games
