Okay I'm in a slump and I can seem to get a job!<img src=smilies/cry.gif> I have turned in applications all overtheplace and not one call back! I can't seem to get any help from friends or family or anyone willing to hook me up with a job! And no I am not sitting on my ass wishing someone to just give me a job (but would be nice but not possible!) I just need money to get out of my parents house and go to collage! And I'm thinking that I am not doing something right! So what I am asking is there some trick or something to help me snatch one! What I am doing right now is applying everywhere I see hiring then demand an interview the next week then if I have any time of the day after this apply at random places! And Its been awhile and still no job and I don't know what to do anymore!

Go hit up the major venues in your area. Busch Gardens was my 35th application, but they needed so many people they had to take me.

You need to call them back to let them know that you're still interested. Seriously. Every job I've had I called them a week after handing in my app, then they scheduled me for an interview the next day.

Pick up the Knock'em Dead series of books from the library. They are a really good source of information on resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing and job finding. There are 3 books in the series.

One of the tips mentioned in the book has already been mentioned in this thread. Call the company after a week. It makes you stand out from the crowd. Another tip, cold call the company to get a name and position to place on your cover letter. This makes you stand out further from the crowd.

These books also state what type of questions get asked at an interview with a detailed description on why these questions are asked. It will help you.
