Hi

Even with the great technological advances in NES rom emulation, there is still one ROM that no emulator on earth can emulate. The name of the game is Conflict. This is why I have re-bought the game.

Conflict is a turn based strategy war game made by Vik Tokai that takes place on an hex map. It is not a really popular game which could be a reason why people did not make any test with this rom.

I tried many emulators and I get one of the following result: Blank screen, emulator crash, game partially emulated that may crash in the middle of the game.

By partial emulation it's mainly graphic glitch. Instead of getting pictures, you get weird japanese characters all over the screen. The intro menu work well. Some hex map appear correctly but the unit's picture in battle does not appear well. While some other maps you only see weird characters all over the screen.

Now what I am asking is:

Is there somebody, which has made an NES emulator, that can try to make his emulator emulate this game?

The reason I want this game Emulated even if I have the real cartridge is because the game is extremely hard and cheating, with save states for example, is essential.

If you have any other information regarding this game post it too.

Thank You

NEStopia and FCEU both play it fine. I'm sure several others do as well.

You must not have tried many emulators. Either that or your ROM is bad. Maybe try looking for a different dump? Or maybe clean the header?

I have Conflict (U) [!].nes and its header is:
4E 45 53 1A 08 10 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

This is what I was thinking....sounds like something I've seen before in a ROM that was courrupted.

I second the rom corrupt theory....hell I booted up nester j on my psp and it worked! Here is the md5 (a checksum to see if a file is integral) for my copy

[Path] / filename MD5 sum
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conflict (U) [!].nes bab1fb6be494a85146f7c4582f0fbe71

Use http://www.pc-tools.net/files/win32/freeware/md5sums-1.2.zip extract the exe and drag and drop your rom into it. If the md5 sum is different from above, it's prolly corrupt.

It's possible I have a bad ROM, because I had downloaded it a long time ago. I'll try to download the rom again and see if it works.

...[A few time later]...

OK, I downloaded another rom, it works.

Thanks
