need help with a .sav file

i downloaded a .sav file for pokemon red and it wont open in visual boy advance so can anyone give me an GBA/GBC/GB emulator that can open Game boy roms and .sav files?
or can somone just give me a different type of save of pokeon red that is beaten?

Is the .sav file the same name of your ROM?

Rename your .sav file to the same name as the ROM. It works backwards too.

no it still not working
does the sav file have to be in the folder of the rom? do i need more than just the sav file to make it work? or do i need another version of visual boy advance?
