I read through the linked article, and a few others on the same site, maybe I missed it but I didn't see anywhere that he ate any part of her. He appearantly felt remorse after realizing what he had done while he was cutting her up, so he jumped to his death.

The fact that he was an Iraq war veteran means jack shit. A lot of men and women serve in Iraq, and that includes both the good natured and the malicious-- just the same as any other grouping of people. The article's heading wasn't as misleading as yours... why make that the topic? I know you want to leave the country, but the fact that this fucking weirdo was an "Iraq war veteran" means absolutely zero. How about the fact that he was a sick bastard is sufficient.

I think it fits into the whole "projecting a conflict within oneself onto the 'external' world" thing that creates wars in the first place quite well.

Yeah, it seems like he came to that conclusion on his own. Maybe linking the two basic ideas together in one sentence was too much?
