My sister's talking with her friend on the phone right now. The friend is visiting her GF in Australia.

After talking for a while... I guess she convinced my sis to move to Australia. My sister's all talking like she's gonna hop on a plane real soon and just go. Knowing her... she probably would too... I mean she just up and left high school to move across the country.. like at the drop of a hat.

So yeah.. I guess I should be happy and support her... but I'm too selfish for that /wwwthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif. This would put me in a really shitty position.

1) I don't have a job... so if I were to stay here, I'd not only have to find a room-mate for the one-bedroom place I'm staying at... AND get a job (which I have to do anyway /wwwthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif)

2) I don't have the option of falling back on my parents... since my dad rented out all the available bedrooms to some college kids (room and board, food, utilies, all for $100 each person... talk about charity)

3) My sis really wants me to move with her... but I'm not as... well... flexible as she is. I just can't up and leave.

Also... if I were to move with her (which I don't think I can afford anyway... I'm down to like no money)... I'd have to leave behind all my possesions. Including my, uh... computer ... which is kind of my life at this point. With all my projects and stuff stored on it... I don't think just ditching it is an option. Especially since I won't even be able to afford a new one (not even a shitty one).

EDIT:
Well... looks like it's probably gonna happen... we'll have to jam out of this place by the first... and sell all our shit. I could probably get some decent cash for my video games that I like never play. And my Cowboy Bebop collector's set might go for something >_<

How much? Me interested.
Anyway, I hope this goes well for you. Sometimes you just have to take the first step, not entirely sure of where you are going.
As for your computer problem, may I suggest building a shiuttle PC using the components you already have? You would only need to buy a new case and mobo. And then you can litterly put it in your lap.

I would seriously reccomend you do this, even though I live in Aus (nice place, water restrictions will likely be in place around the 1st, I wont bother explaining why though), I would reccomend that you find yourself a job (fulltime would probably be best), and a decent room mate who handles his/her share of the work.

So that's cheap?

I don't really know how you feel, but I don't think I'd just up and leave either.

If you did move, I'd probably advise you not to get rid of your computer, if you can't take the monitor, then just take the system (+mouse and keyboard maybe) itself.

American version dvd's? you could probably play them on any dvd player, assuming it has a region hack (am I allowed to give links to a site that has dvd player hacks?). and games are more expensive (usually $90 - $110 for a new release), and come out quite a bit later then the US games. if they're cube games, try picking up a freeloader for games you want to keep, but check around to see if you can find the list that lists which games work with which freeloader version.

I guess you could always try to persuade your sister not to move to Australia, but you'll need some good reasons (it's winter, water restriction, somewhat expensive broadband, higher prices for stuff then in the US obviously).

I don't know dude---if it was me, I'd probably do it. Without a wife/kids/job to worry about, why the hell not? And as for leaving possessions behind, maybe you could leave some things at your dad's or a friend's house and have them shipped when you get settled. At the very least, take your computer minus the monitor along.
