If you want media you have to turn to the internet now. I dont (firefox dont like me) know about other people but TV has become a spammed web site. Its like one site that has a few good things but other then that its internet spam. Really! Everything a .com in really cheap ass ads that I can do better in Mario Paint and a VCR. On TV. I think its just fucked up how its evolved over the years.

personally i always thought it was this bad, hence why i never watched it. i dunno, it never appealed to me with all the soap operas and useless crap advertised. the only channels i watch anymore are comedy central for the standup, and rarely cartoon network.
but then again, its all run by the same guy + aol. what do you expect.

I watch a few shows regularly, out of habit more than anything, other than them I can't stand to watch TV anymore. Advertisements have gotten too damn annoying, it's like they purposely try to make them as annoying as possible anymore, most the shows themselves are terrible, and even with 200+ channels all the decent shows are on about the same time, leaving about 18 hours of terrible programming.

Best thing I ever did loosing the TV. Talk about programming, hell prime time will make you things are all peppermint and butterscotch and no one just jumps in bed with the neighbor at the drop of a hat. Wasted most of my life in front of that idiot box. Go out and live and say the hell with what anyone thinks about it. Life is way to short, I'm 43 soon and have so little time left to do something real. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>

The volkswagen one where they crash into a car from the driver's perspective is never-wrecking....I haven't seen it for a while though...

Family Guy FTW!!!! Check out these videos of Seth McFarlane giving a speech at Harvard (NSFW)

TV is like sort of a filler activity that keeps you from thinking about things. When you watch TV, instead of contemplating things, thinking things over, you can instead just sit back and be absorbed in some world that's kind of like ours, but 6 months ahead of time. 6 months later, you'll catch the people you know talking like the people on the most popular TV shows...If you stop watching TV, you'll get to see catch-phrase after catch-phrase just float on by, wondering where they came from...then 3 years later you're over at some friend's house and they're watching a re-run of some cancelled show, and the catch-phrase will come back.
Watching television is just one more way to be an obedient consumer and not think about anything other than being a good little slave to the ideas being mainlined into the veins of society.

Yeah, for my apartment I'm going to be getting DSL rather than cable TV or anything like that. I think I'll find far more entertainment online than on the TV...if I wanna watch something I'll pop in one of my commercial free DVDs.
If a-la-carte cable was offered I might go for it, as there are a few channels I wouldn't mind having, like Cartoon Network for example.

I just only watch one program regularly - Meet The Press.
Sitcoms annoy me, and you can't swing a dead cat around without finding a damned crime drama.
Used to like Law And Order, but I'm growin' out of it.
I'm a DVD collector myself.

...and that's probably not even half of the DVDs. Live action stuff is further down. You could say I'm a collector as well. :P Only reason I have this pic though is because I was taking pictures of my new apartment.

The last time I made the mistake of turning the T.V. on, the first thing I saw was Peter Popoff selling mini-bottles of "miracle spring water." That kind of thing epitomizes the whole T.V. experience for me at this point. ;>

Watching TV is a waste of time. I only watch Futurama, Simpsons and Family Guy.
