Yeah, I had all four removed together a few years ago. They gave me local anaesthesia so it didn't really hurt during the operation - but I totally freaked, cuz I could see everything they were doing, and it wasn't pretty at all.

The pain afterwards sucked, but it didn't last very long... hope you feel better soon

I had all 4 removd at once and I had them knock my shit out completely! so I could wake up in a happy little recliner, drooling on myself.

My pain killers, on the other hand, did not suck. And I continued to use that bottle of vicotin until depleated.

yeah, i had one removed in December. my extractions were pretty standard... cut the gums, yank the tooth out. i couldnt afford anything but local anesthesia, and I still had to pay $280.

thanks... they gave me darvocet. it'd better kick in soon. i hate this.

They took my 4 out at the same time also, but my insurance covered the greatest drug in existance, liquid valium, I was so high they could have pulled all my teeth and I wouldn't have given a shit at all, I was so happy and it lasted for almost 12 hrs after and they gave me some kick ass pain killer also for later and I hardly felt any pain for the recovery period either.

You should be able to eat tomato soup already. (unless heat agrivates the pain.) Try soaking a grilled cheese in it unitl it gets soggy. Sounds pretty bad, but it's actually quite good

If it begins to swell up, be prepared for a shocking roller-coaster ride of pain. Just remember, Saltwater Man will come to the rescue to save you from the depths of unimaginable agony and discontent.
If Saltwater Man is on vacation, then enjoy having your mouth look like it's stuffed with ping-pong balls until Mr. Syringe has to destroy the evil bacteria demon lurking within your jaws.

My teeth arent all that great in the back, and I'm almost due to get my chipped tooth replasted or what ever (I was told they fall of in like 3-4 years, its been 3), but my mom gets very good health insurance and a neato dental plan (lisa needs braces) that would cover most of it. I just gotta set an appointment.

I shouldn't have much trouble with my wisdom teeth since I had a pre-molar removed to make space while I was having braces fitted. The most I felt was a dull ache afterwards and I kept talking and eating right after even though I couldn't feel most of my mouth. I didn't stop eating at all afterwards either.

It takes a lot to get between me and my food.

Supposedly, I *should* get mine out. The dentist says they're going in straight, but to do it just to make sure. I haven't figured out why.

Hm. At least your wisdom teeth came out whole. Mine were broken into four pieces, and all four pieces of each tooth were twisted and made a horrible snapping sound and feeling when they came out.

NOT fun. The nitrous oxide didn't do shit, either.

Also, while I'm on the subject, to anyone getting their wisdom teeth pulled, there's gonna be a lot of blood afterwards. I went to sleep right when I got home, and I woke up with my mouth full of it. Freaked me out to say the least. If the bleeding doesn't stop after a couple of hours, bite down on moist tea bags. They taste like shit, but they work.

Where did you get it done?! I'm pretty sure that kind of thing is protected under the constitution. When I had mine done there was no blood and no pain until afterwards.

Ugh... I remember having my wisdom teeth pulled. I feel for you. When they removed my upper right one it broke in two and part of my tooth was stuck in my gum. Words can't describe the pain, although they did give me Percocet.... don't get too free-spirited with the painkillers!

Getting good teeth taken out just in case they go wonky? Sounds like your dentist has some problems...

Mine said the same thing. I think it's a standard precautionary measure.

It was a requirement to have mine removed so I could go on my two year mormon mission. that was many years ago. Satan is my master now. http://www.jordysworld.de/emoticons/teufel03.gif

There wasn't any blood or pain until afterwards, but the sound and having my head jerked around...was fucking awful. I could smell the burning of the drill, then the dentist saying, "It's okay, you're doing great..." then *SNAP* *POP* and out came another piece. I NEVER want to go through something like that again.

The reason they had to be broken is because mine had corkscrew type roots, which for some reason or another caused this sort of procedure to be necessary.

Still...ugh. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

It would have cost me $300 extra to have general anesthesia. i could barely afford the $280 it cost to get them out as it was. ah well. i dont mind the work itself... the aftermath is the part that sucks.

I was up all day after they did it. There was a good amount of blood, sure... but nothing too extreme. When my little brother had his done, he said he woke up with his face covered in dry blood. I never had that. sure, when i spit, the split was pinish/light red... but i wasnt spouting blood or anything. i didnt have stitches, either. i guess everyone's different

I just used the gauze that they gave to me after they took the teeth out. i changed it every 15-30 mins and it was fine. they looked really gross, but it was more gross when they were in my mouth and totally soggy with blood, but mostly my saliva. you're supposed to do that with gauze or teabags for the first few hours after the operation. i was fine.

yeah, i know someone who had the dentist like, on his chest trying to take his teeth out. he was knocked out, but his chest hurt afterward as if someone had been sitting on it or something.

> don't get too free-spirited with the painkillers!

hehe, i still have a ton left... for the next time i'm in super pain, or if someone else is. i have no problem with giving perscription pills to someone if i dont need them anymore, and if they obviously need them (and they know they arent allergic to them).
