Just got back from my weekend in HelL.A. where my ex lives. I just started seeing her again recently and really wanted to make a special night for us. On Friday I cooked a nice dinner and the vibe was positive, but there was this odd tension in the air. I mean, we went from almost getting married, to two years of not speaking, and now chatting and joking around like we just met. It was just surreal. I did well to keep conversation away from the past, but the bottle of Maker's Mark bourbon I brought along did wonders to ease the tension.
So Saturday rolls around and we get up around 2:00pm. Spent most of the day fighting a wicked hangover. Later in the afternoon I went to Amoeba Records to check for new music, and got a flier for an afterhours club party in downtown L.A.: Blackwatch Kazell, Thomas Michael, and Seroya were playing (these are some of our favorite artists/ DJ's). I quickly called MuzikCribs and fenagled our names onto the V.I.P. list. So we get to Club@Grand about 11:00 and Thomas Michael is in the middle of his set. The place is still sort of dead and people were just starting to get up and dance. We had a few Red Bull Vodkas. Ridiculous numbers of people start rolling in at 11:30. And then, at midnight, Blackwatch Kazell hit the decks. The massive PAS/ QSC sound system came alive with a deep bass wave intro and echoing church bells. A ghostly whisper circled the four corners of the dance floor for several minutes as crowds flooded the dance floor anticipating the beat. And then the shockwave- hundreds of dancers swept into motion at the sudden drop of the 808 pulse. A track I own and love, Memnon's Locutus.
My ex can dance. That is where she gets her rocks off. Most girls out on the floor just shake their butt around like it's MTV spring break, but she has years of dance studio training and just looks so goddamn sexy when she moves. I just follow her lead usually. The power of the sound system, the laser show, and especially the deep, erotic house music just took over the entire room. I didn't see one person not dancing, probably people who have never danced before. Just when the sex vibe was getting too hot, foam shot all over the crowd from the ceiling. By 2:00 I was ready to take her home.
In brief, I had the time of my life and a casual free-for-all encounter with my ex girlfriend. I hope she feels molested<img src=smilies/thumb.gif>
