Yeah, I have to say, the Rom Hacking community had pretty nice prospects for me. I didn't know I was hated so much.

If I may say so, Zophars time may be up, but you could still kick in some competition. Swampgas, you just have to put someone else in control...That's all you ever had to do to rejuvenate the site. I don't know why you let it decay, but nothing can be done about that. If it's worth it to you, try letting someone else hold the reigns for a bit.

I don't understand the 2 faced attitude that goes on in the community, as well as most of the internet. It's like you grew up but forgot to mature.

ZIEG HEIL! We do as we wish and have no remorse because we didn't like you in the first place!

You know why I came here? I came here to learn about Rom Hacking because I loved emulation so much, I wanted to get deeper into it's roots, the core of it all. I wanted to do something crazy and have my work respected.

But I'm not gonna give too much of a bleeding heart speech. So thats where that ends.

Thanks Thaddeus and Gil for the heads up. I would have never known that people hated me so much if you hadn't spoken up.

Half of you guys are so fucking talented it's unbelievable, yet you choose not to do anything nuts or inconceivable like a select few do.

But those times are in the past I suppose. Let it die or let it rot. Either way, it's all piracy.

I really don't know what to say anymore...Those I gave a helping hand to know who they are, and I respect their silence if they want it.

Farewell...

There is no "competition." There is an archive of emulators on the site. That's what ZD is. There have been 4 other people who tried to run ZD...I haven't run ZD in YEARS.

Goodbye, jerk.

I've GOT to ask, is that going to be part of the site redesign if that ever happens? Will the download pages link to archived copies of emulators... and will ZD itself have a subtitle like "Emulation's Archive"?

When did the "archive" status hit?

It's always my fault. That's what you missed.

It's 2006, too. The stuff people whine about happened TEN YEARS AGO. They are now officially psychotic

You shouldn't give a shit. People on the internet hate other people on the internet. I personally take pride in creating an easily hate-able outward image, and I don't romhack to make friends, although I happen to have found some pretty cool friends along the way.

Still, Thadd and Gil bro rock.

You know what I see when I think of your username, Gavin? I see a really talented Rom Hacker with no concept of himself. You just follow blindly to whatever you want to listen to. I've seen it happen a few times with you, and this statement makes it even more true.

I don't even know what you just said means. Stop talking in psudo-bullshit language and stop pretending that the character I've created on message boards and on IRC is me.

And you're totally wrong.

I'm not that talented.

DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING IS JUST MY OPINION, AND I AM JUST A GUY ON THE INTERNET WHOM YOU KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING ABOUT. THERE MAY BE SOME HYPOCRISY IN HERE, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO CHANGE WHAT I THINK JUST BECAUSE I FALL SHORT OF MY OWN EXPECTATIONS. THANK YOU.

People tend to behave like total dicks on the Internet.

The reason is that you're just a bunch of text. People you meet on the Internet didn't grow up with you, we don't see you on a daily basis, you aren't friends to us. Any pain you feel is just a bunch of text on the screen. No one gives a fuck about you. As such, social conventions of politeness go out the door. Your problems are insignificant, meaningless, to be addressed by others as nothing more than a way to boost their egos or fill in down time at work. No one cares about you. You are just another bunch of bytes that's temporarily stored in my RAM, processed, and sent to my video card to be displayed on my monitor, and once I've read what you've said, it will be replaced by more transient data that will again be replaced.

It helps to leave emotions out of anything you do related to the Internet. You may notice that I don't talk about my personal life on this message board anymore. It's because I realize that I, as a person, am just another bunch of text on the screen to everyone else. My life is very uninteresting and depressing. Even if it wasn't, people with real lives with real problems wouldn't give a fuck about it. If I post on the Diares board again, it will be to provide an amusing anecdote that others may be entertained by, not as a way to vent my angst.

That said, I do think the Internet is a great way to spread to spread ideas. If I say something on a message board, and 1000 people read it, you'd better believe that I've probably influenced at least one person in SOME way...
